The third episode of "Down Cemetery Road" commences with Amos diligently working to restore Sarah's abode to its former state, erasing the bullet hole, disposing of the gruesome remains, and replacing the door handle with a new one. Meanwhile, Zoe returns to Oxford Investigations, where the bills pile up and the atmosphere feels eerily silent without Joe's presence. The office is bathed in a bright light, a stark contrast to the dingy hues of the previous episodes.

As Zoe makes her way to see Mal, the shopkeeper, even purchasing a scratch ticket becomes an issue due to her lack of funds in the bank. However, her exasperation doesn't extend to the investigation, and she enlists Mal's help. They inspect the cameras and discover evidence that Rufus has been lurking around.
Zoe then heads over to Sarah's place, only to find it completely empty. She immediately notices that the bathroom handle has been fixed and the place smells... odd. Wigwam shows up, and Zoe pretends to be a police officer, successfully loosening Wigwam's lips. He reveals that Rufus "just appeared" one day, adding that he's a juggler by trade and quite handy with DIY.
When Zoe sees Rufus' picture pinned up on the fridge, along with Wigwam admitting he's camera-shy and doesn't like his picture being taken, she realizes it's the same guy from the store. And as many of us may have realized by this point (given Ruth Wilson's prolific acting prowess and her role as the main character), Sarah is still alive and held captive by Downey. Downey reassures her, pointing out that if "they" catch her, then she'll be killed. Sarah complies but decides to take the front seat this time after her botched escape plan.
Downey emphasizes his efforts to locate Dinah, insisting on her protection, but Sarah's impulsive approach to the police only exacerbates their predicament. Meanwhile, Hamza Malik is rebuked yet again by C, who decides that Amos is no longer a desired ally on the case. The unenviable task of delivering this news falls squarely on Hamza's shoulders, a task rendered even more challenging given Amos' current state of grief over his brother's loss.
When Amos arrives at the office, he divulges his belief that Downey possesses Axel's phone. Hamza attempts to release him from the situation, but the encounter does not go as planned, with Amos intimidating Hamza into submission, vowing to track down Downey regardless of the consequences.
The hierarchy escalates further, revealing Talia Ross, C's superior and the Defense Minister, who is not exactly accommodating in her dealings with C.
In a parallel development, Zoe catches Mark in a compromising moment with "Emma Assistant" in the London subway. Their intimate encounter becomes clear, revealing Mark's affair on Sarah. Zoe follows Mark to his office and exposes the duo's secret recording, effectively disqualifying him from the suspect list and instead adding him to her own "massive twat" list.
Sarah soon discovers the grim reality of her marriage's demise in a harrowing way. She overhears Mark and Emma laughing about her leaving him on the phone, a moment that shatters her completely.
Despite the tangled web of clues, something about the case doesn't sit right with Zoe, prompting her to head to the morgue. There, she discovers a missing corpse for the John Doe, which sets off alarm bells, particularly when coupled with the mysterious disappearance of Dinah, who seems to have been erased from records in the safehouse.
Exhausted and working around the clock to unravel this puzzle, Zoe deduces that this person could be the intended target, with Dinah and Maddie caught in the crossfire. Her affair partner, Poland, appears on the scene, and Zoe realizes he could well be in on this too, especially when he warns her off from poking around.
With Poland gone and Zoe's focus solely on this case, she returns to the morgue and speaks to prospective live-streamer Wayne once more. He casually drops that he's been writing his own facial recognition software and runs it on a picture of Maddie's husband, Tommy Singleton. The initial thought is that this John Doe is Tommy Singleton, but he probably didn't die in the blast, given there's no body at the morgue. The people behind this conspiracy have made it look like he did. However, we see a glimmer of a military background for him, given his picture flashing up on screen when running the software.
Elsewhere, Amos shows up at the safehouse to find Tweedledee and Tweedledum waiting for him. They're the two new lackeys chosen to oversee Dinah, and Amos scoffs at their appearance. He's also here to hand over a little teddy to her, which turns out to have a location tracker inside. Amos watches from the shadows as they go about their business.
Zoe heads over to see Joe's mother, Janice, and reveals that Joe was murdered. As she breaks the news, Sarah decides to ring Zoe, courtesy of the crumpled business card in her pocket. However, Zoe doesn't answer initially. Back at the hotel room, Downey is shocked when he realizes Sarah has never met Dinah but doesn't reveal his connection to the girl just yet. While he heads off to take a shower, Zoe rings Sarah back and she hurriedly picks up the phone, whispering "Zoe" down the receiver with a hint of urgency in her voice.
