In the fifth episode of Dynamite Kiss, we find Ji-hyuk in the midst of a heroic rescue, plucking Da-rim from the clutches of her kidnappers with a fierce determination that leaves them trembling. Her wounded hands only serve to fuel his ire, as he vows to keep them at bay. With a classic flair for the dramatic, he carries her to the safety of his car, her legs giving out beneath her. Before depositing her at home, he ensures she has the necessary bandages and ointment to tend to her injuries, Da-rim thanking him with a promise to repay the debt. However, Ji-hyuk, with a cool detachment, asks her to put that conversation on hold for another day. As he drives off, Seon-u watches from his window, noting the care Ji-hyuk lavishes upon Da-rim.
Meanwhile, Seon-u's son, Kim-jun, is urging him to date Ha-yeong, declaring his affection for her. As Da-rim arrives home, Seon-u checks on her but his displeasure is palpable upon hearing of her brush with danger and Ji-hyuk's rescue. Back at the office, Ji-hyuk relives the incident, trying to rationalize his actions towards Da-rim but ultimately convincing himself that he is only concerned for her as her boss. The lies we tell ourselves!
The next day at work, the team is worried about the fallout from the livestream. Thankfully, Ji-hyuk and Gyeong-min have things under control. They prove that the livestream was a success, elevating the brand's image among consumers. This is largely due to Go-eun's poignant story of being a single mother. As expected, Ji-hye and Choong-gu are caught off guard by Ji-hyuk's escape from their trap. On the other hand, the chairman grows more impressed with Ji-hyuk and his team.
Sensing this, Ji-hye and her minion concoct a new plan to sabotage Ji-hyuk's team. The MotherTF team is grateful to Ji-hyuk for saving them and moving forward, he insists on signing off on everything. Gyeong-min is shocked since initially Ji-hyuk wanted nothing to do with the team. Ji-hyuk jokes that he is now burning with passion as a leader and can't help it—a testament to the transformation that has taken place within him since his encounter with Da-rim.
Later, Da-rim presents Ji-hyuk with a repayment contract, and in his compassionate nature, Ji-hyuk only requests the principal amount. He inquires curiously about why Da-rim's husband, knowing the loan sharks' pursuit, didn't pick her up from work. When Da-rim defends her husband with an unconscious rage-bait, Ji-hyuk responds pettily to the contract, asserting that he "bought" Da-rim's organs and insists on her adopting a healthy lifestyle. In the end, Da-rim laments that it would have been better to succumb to the loan sharks' hands.
Meanwhile, Ha-yeong visits Seon-u and is captivated by his perfectly chiselled abs. Once Seon-u puts on a shirt, Ha-yeong inquires about his love life, and upon hearing that he is single, she sets her charm on him.
Meanwhile, Ji-hye sends the MotherTF team to a park managed by the company. Initially overseen by Ji-hyuk's mother but neglected after her departure, the team is sent to revitalize the park. As they work, the mothers open up about their labor experiences, and Da-rim is caught off-guard but saves herself with her birth story. However, the women question if Da-rim truly knows anything about child rearing, assuming her husband handles it more devoutly. Ji-hyuk is infuriated by the women's praise for Da-rim's husband and walks away.
At the park, Da-rim encounters a young mother who reminds her of Natural Bebe's stance on environmental sustainability. Ji-hyuk visits the tree he and his mom planted when he was young, and Da-rim offers to take pictures for him to show his mom. She is fascinated when Ji-hyuk spots a bee and starts running away; she chases after him, effortlessly teasing him.
Later, the park manager shares with Ji-hyuk and Da-rim that the company is considering selling the park to focus on profit instead of social responsibility. Da-rim believes the company should initiate a tree-planting campaign since mothers care about creating a safe world for their kids. This reminds Ji-hyuk of his mom and their tree-planting memories together.
That evening, Ji-hyuk unveiled the pictures of the tree to his mother, promising to turn her dream into a reality. On the other side of the hospital, Da-rim spent quality time with her mother before returning home to a dinner prepared by Seon-u. When Da-rim shared the amusing story of Ji-hyuk's fear of bees, Seon-u's face flushed with embarrassment.
The next day, at the board meeting, Ji-hyuk proposed reviving the tree-planting campaign and focusing on environmental protection. Ji-hye was naturally opposed to the idea, but Ji-hyuk's arguments resonated with the chairman. He ordered the teams to present a competitive pitch by the following week.
Initially, the MotherTF team was intimidated by the marketing team's prowess. However, Ji-hyuk encouraged them to use their motherly experience and complimented him for coming up with the idea. During lunch, a scuffle between the two teams inspired the MotherTF team to work even harder. For the next few days, they put in overtime to come up with a worthy concept.
Meanwhile, Ji-hyuk asked Ha-yeong to help with the project. Ha-yeong agreed on the condition that Ji-hyuk hire Seon-u as the photographer. Once Ji-hyuk saw Seon-u's work, he was impressed and agreed to Ha-yeong's terms. Seon-u later shared the news with Da-rim and convinced her to work together.
Things came to a head when Seon-u showed up, and Ji-hyuk realized he had accidentally hired Da-rim's husband. Simultaneously, Ha-yeong was shocked to hear that Da-rim was Seon-u's wife. He pulled her aside before she said anything and explained the situation. She agreed to play along as long as Seon-u granted her wishes.
In the meantime, Ji-hyuk tried to play it cool, promising Da-rim to keep their almost-affair a secret from her husband. The team welcomed Seon-u and Ha-yeong cheerfully. Out of curiosity, they asked the couple about their love story. Seon-u lovingly revealed how he and Da-rim were childhood friends and how he fell for her after she started dating someone else out of jealousy. All the ladies in the team swooned at the love story, but Ji-hyuk and Ha-yeong burned with jealousy.
Later, Ji-hyuk asked Seon-u about the loan shark situation. Seon-u lied that it was the only time he and Da-rim had fought. Ji-hyuk didn't buy his story and brought up an alleged friend whose wife had fled to Jeju after a fight with her husband.
After the tense and chaotic first meeting, Ha-yeong asked Seon-u to take photos of her. As they took pictures, they flirted a bit. Satisfied with the photoshoot, Ha-yeong demanded to try out another concept later.
For the project, the MotherTF team took an out-of-town trip to get the photos. As they joked around while taking pictures, Ji-hyuk and Ha-yeong grew increasingly jealous of Da-rim and Seon-u's camaraderie. In the evening, the team enjoyed a group dinner. Da-rim got a bit drunk and excused herself to get some air. Ji-hyuk followed to make sure she was okay.
