Published: Jul 18 2024

Episode 5 of "Found" commences with Gabi engrossed in a phone conversation yet her gaze wandering to a cherished snapshot of the Eiffel Tower, a symbol of Paris's romantic charm. The snapshot triggers a time warp back to 2003, where we witness Sir's thoughtful gesture of leaving a travelogue for Gabi, inviting her to explore the world's wonders. He even proposed a relocation to Paris, a fresh start for the two of them, suggesting she adopt a new identity. Yet, Gabi's heart yearned only for her home.

In the present, Gabi's uncle visits her, offering solace and urging her to scatter her father's ashes. Overwhelmed with guilt for the kidnapping, and her father's remorse for not saving her, Gabi had failed to bid him a proper farewell, holding onto the ashes for years. This conversation triggers a flood of emotions, leaving her devastated. In a fit of anger, she dumps Sir's food into the trash and offers him a burnt slice of bread.

Amidst this turmoil, Gabi receives a call regarding a missing, undocumented immigrant named Satcha. Her brother, Carlos, is distraught and fearful for her safety. Curious and determined, Gabi sets out to gather information about Satcha, teaming up with Lacey and Dhan to search her room for clues. Suddenly, a man wielding a bat attacks Dhan, introducing himself as Carlos, purportedly Satcha's brother.

Found – Season 1 Episode 5 1

Meanwhile, Trent grapples with his boss over his involvement in the missing person case, especially concerning undocumented immigrants. In this town, loyalty and debts run deep, and Trent owes his boss a great deal.

Moseley's team traces Satcha's last known location to a hotel, but CCTV footage reveals her entry, not her exit. They also learn of Manny, a human trafficker who had murdered an immigration lawyer, the same case Trent is investigating. Trent recognizes Carlos's photo and alerts Gabi, revealing that the man wasn't Carlos but the notorious trafficker they've been hunting. The team speculates that Satcha wanted freedom and may have staged her disappearance.

Elsewhere, Margaret beseeches Zeke to scrutinize the bus station footage, hoping for a glimpse of hope. While Dhan struggles with ADHD, exacerbated by his husband's absence, he finds solace at the office rather than sleeping alone in an empty bed.

A fleeting moment takes us back to the days of confinement. Through a blur of memories, we witness Gabi engaging in a profound conversation with Sir, pondering the vast world beyond and her imminent reunion with her father. Worried about the future and the changes it may bring, Gabi finds comfort in Sir's words as he assures her of his superiority to her absent father, urging her to remain loyal.

Now, in the thick of the mystery surrounding the immigrant's disappearance, Sir guides Gabi, convinced that Satcha is far from an ordinary nineteen-year-old. The enigma of how she evaded immigration officials leaves them both baffled. As Gabi prepares to depart, Sir gently reminds her of her forgotten tablet, while concealing a piece of splintered wood behind him—a potential weapon he refrains from using.

Inspired by Sir's wisdom, Gabi urges her team to expedite the investigation, desperate to uncover the truth about the missing girl. Suddenly, Carlos, Satcha's brother, appears, adding a new dimension to the puzzle.

Margaret's keen eye spots Satcha attempting an escape, leading them to the hotel kitchen where she is held captive. A battle erupts between the kidnapper and Dhan, until Trent arrives, delivering a timely blow to the human trafficker. Dhan's revelation of being imprisoned for three years sheds light on the sinister underbelly of Moseley, where each resident harbors a hidden tale of abduction.

Returning to the bus station footage, Margaret's hopes of reuniting with her son are dashed when she sees a man casually unplugging a tablet to wrap his chewing gum. Gabi, carrying her father's ashes, makes her way to a river they once fished together. Trent accompanies her, their conversation a blend of shared experiences and sorrow. Yet, Gabi is unwilling to let go, refusing to scatter her father's ashes and instead carrying them back home.

A flashback reveals Gabi's refusal to forsake her name, a symbol of her unwavering roots. Confronting Sir in the present, Gabi vows not to mistreat him as he once did to her. The shock of Sir handing her the splintered wood, a potential instrument of harm, leaves Gabi speechless. His act of mercy speaks louder than words, convincing her that he is not the monster she once perceived.
