Furies – Season 1 Episode 8

Published: May 31 2024

Episode 8 of Furies kicks off the thrilling finale with Selma puffing on a cigarette, her gaze resolute. Through four generations of Furies, none have encountered a menace quite like Driss. His hasty escape from the confrontation with Damocles' henchmen has granted him a crucial advantage in his hunt for the armored train. Driss covets all the secrets of Olympus, and it seems he's poised to snatch them all.

The scene shifts to Driss, sporting the same sinister grinning mask as earlier in the season. He's aboard the train, surrounded by his men, a picture of confidence. As for Selma, we pull back to reveal that she's actually brokered a deal with Olympus to locate the train. She arrives alongside Lyna, but the sight before them is grim: Driss has already made his way through the carriages, leaving a trail of slain men and women in his wake.

Furies – Season 1 Episode 8 1

Desperate to amass all the treasures for himself, Driss frantically empties the vaults, tossing gold bars out the window like they're mere pebbles. Meanwhile, The Fixer watches anxiously, while the two Furies join forces to eliminate Driss' men one by one as they make their way through the train.

After dispatching all the foes in the first carriage, Selma informs them that three more carriages await. To keep track of their progress and alert the others, they throw one of the sacks out at the nearest platform.

But this is merely the beginning of their perilous journey. Selma encourages her protégée to take deep breaths and keep her emotions in check before they move on to the next leg of their mission.

Driss advanced further along the train, successfully coaxing one of the men to punch in the correct password, unlocking the system's gateway. But it wasn't sufficient for all Driss desired, and his patience was wearing thin. In a fit of impatience, he took the man's life without hesitation.

Meanwhile, Selma and Lyna stumbled

upon a bomb hidden within the train's carriages. Realizing the gravity of the situation, they knew they had to deactivate it swiftly to avert catastrophe. Despite her trembling hands, Selma bravely volunteered to handle the delicate task.

Elsewhere, we flashback to earlier in the day, where Elie made a visit to Orso at the clinic. After a tense confrontation, the two decided to set aside their differences and collaborate to reroute the train away from Paris. They worked feverishly, trying to switch the rails and alter the train's course.

As they stealthily entered the control room, they were confronted by a group of workers. A fierce altercation ensued, resulting in the workers being subdued off-screen. George, the apparent leader, then revealed the monitors to Elie and Orso, showing them the train's progress.

While this was unfolding, Selma attempted to deactivate the bomb but unfortunately, her efforts backfired, accidentally accelerating the timer to 20 minutes. Meanwhile, Lyna was busy incapacitating a new wave of assailants who were guarding a carriage filled with valuable paintings.

George, excitedly watching the monitors, soon realized the gravity of the situation upon seeing the stern expressions of Elie and Orso. He revealed to them that the train they were pursuing was actually a decommissioned one, rendering their efforts seemingly futile.

Despite this revelation, the trio managed to divert the train's course. Lyna caught up with Driss in the carriage filled with computers, but as the lights flickered erratically, she found herself surrounded by five menacing men. Instead of engaging in a physical altercation, she used her wits and a lighter to trigger the alarms, holding her breath as she made a dash for the oxygen duct, leaving the men to choke to death.

Unfortunately, by the time Lyna emerged, the data transfer had been completed, and Driss had escaped, leaving the five men lifeless behind him. Lyna exited the train after the diversion and a chase ensued between her and Driss. Thankfully, Selma managed to cut the right wire and deactivate the bomb, averting a potential catastrophe that would have devastated the entire underground.

In the end, Lyna gave chase to Driss, who managed to lock himself in a closet and slip away undetected. However, Driss left a grim reminder for Selma on the carriage - the cuts across her face, a testament to his ruthless nature.

With Driss still at large, Selma unexpectedly appears, discovering him calmly seated on a bench beside the serene River Seine. Meanwhile, Selma joins Mud Man and Fixer in their efforts to eliminate Driss' loyal men.

Alone, Driss confides in his sister, revealing that for the past 25 years, she has unfairly portrayed him as a monster. Shockingly, it turns out she was the one who tracked down Kahina's family and was instrumental in the massacre. She framed Driss, and although he is indeed culpable, she couldn't bear to let her mistake go unpunished.

As Lyna catches up with them, Driss proudly displays his gunshot wound, urging her to keep the secret and avoid the guilt of his blood on her hands. Instead, he insists that Selma pull the trigger, and she reluctantly obliges.

Lyna is eager to know what Driss said to Selma, but she remains tight-lipped. However, Lyna points out that both of them are now fugitives, hunted by the Godfathers who have placed a bounty on their heads. There seems to be no escape.

The unlikely pair of Orso and Eli part ways, with Eli refusing to shake Orso's proffered hand. Nevertheless, it appears that a truce has been forged between them.

Meanwhile, Lyna makes a heartfelt farewell visit to her mother before preparing to flee. In fact, the pair's appearance before the Godfathers earlier in the episode is now explained, with the voiceover and images of Selma walking towards them coming into focus.

However, the situation takes a surprising turn when it is revealed that each of the Godfathers is actually deceased. Out of the shadows, a horde of soldiers armed with guns emerges. It seems that the end is nigh for the pair, especially when a new figure, Damocles, strides into the scene. He demands to know who they are working for, leaving us on a cliffhanger as the screen fades to black.
