Genie, Make a Wish – K-drama Episode 9 1

Khalid, meanwhile, unveils his desire for the lamp, his disappointment palpable as his wishes go unfulfilled.

In another part of the story, Iblis entrusts Sade with the task of safeguarding Ka-young while he embarks on a journey to rendezvous with Zahara. As anticipated, Zahara withholds the truth about the twenty-year temporal gap. Instead, he speaks only of his regret over aiding Shadi in saving his son, a deed that led to Khalid's soul being ensnared within Hunbish's body. This act, he laments, laid waste to his once-flourishing garden, leaving only Jung-hoon's soul flower standing as a testament to what was lost.

On a different front, Kim Gae experiences a bittersweet reunion with his former family. Yet, recognition eludes him, for he now walks the earth as a mere mortal. Only Ha-neul, the innocent child, harbors belief in his identity. Across town, Mi-ju dedicates her time to volunteering at the food bank, where fate brings her face-to-face with Ejllael.

Ejllael confronts Mi-ju head-on, reproaching her for the vanity of reclaiming her youth. He reminds her that her lifespan remains unchanged, a finite thread winding towards its end. He prophesies that on the day the flowers in her garden burst into bloom, so too shall her life. But, he offers a glimmer of solace, assuring her that her soul shall ascend to heaven. The revelation strikes Pan-geum with profound impact.

At the bank, Ka-young is met with an apology and a reimbursement from the bank manager. Unyielding, she demands the withdrawal of all her funds in cold, hard cash. Later, she returns to the mechanic shop, her mind set on reviewing the CCTV footage, perhaps seeking answers or clues in the silent witness of the cameras.

She notices Jung-hoon’s boys have been casting furtive glances in her direction. Just at that moment, Jung-hoon himself pays her a brief visit. Ka-young demands to know what his game is, and he, in turn, implores her to use her wish to strip him of his mortality. Sensing the deception in his words, Ka-young recoils, and Sade swiftly transforms into a jaguar, shielding her from harm.

Chang-sik and his crew arrive just in time to witness Jung-hoon's departure. Ka-young introduces the majestic jaguar to them and entreats Chang-sik to safeguard Mi-ju and Min-ji. Meanwhile, Iblis stealthily infiltrates Jung-hoon’s mansion, seeking an audience with Shadi.

Shadi, riddled with regret over his past deeds, expresses a desire to redeem himself by saving the world from Iblis's malevolent grasp. Iblis, however, coldly informs him that his fate has already been sealed. He issues a stern warning, vowing to exact vengeance upon Khalid should he dare to harm Ka-young. In a desperate bid to atone, Shadi offers to assist Iblis by impeding Khalid's progress in any way he can.

Later, Ka-young finds herself under attack by a group of thugs, lured by the prospect of plundering the money she had just withdrawn from the bank. Once again, Iblis intervenes, hurling the assailants into the abyss of the underworld. Ka-young, in a daring act, follows him down.

Her heart shatters as she comes to the harrowing realization that this is the very fate that awaits Iblis should she emerge victorious. Upon their return, Ka-young recounts her encounter with Jung-hoon to Iblis, who then fills her in on Hunbish’s grim destiny.

As their conversation deepens, Kim Gae arrives, seeking to fulfill his final wish: to revert to his canine form and bid farewell to his family before succumbing to his illness. Iblis is troubled by this request, knowing full well that Gae’s family had callously abandoned him. Nevertheless, Gae bequeaths his fortune to his driver and reverts to his beloved dog form.

As the night wears on, Ka-young and Iblis embark on a leisurely stroll. Iblis reveals that the Supreme Being had granted him three wishes. Two have already been used, but he is uncertain whether his third wish was ever granted.

From his conversation with Zahara, he gleaned that Ka-young’s soul from a bygone era had endured for 28 years. He muses that perhaps his final wish had granted young Ka-young a fleeting chance at survival, albeit with disastrous consequences.

Ka-young, her voice trembling with emotion, confesses that for the first time in her life, she had felt genuine fear at the thought of her own mortality. She beseeches him to take her to his cherished haven, and he obliges, guiding her to a serene spot where they can witness the cherry blossom leaves fluttering down like delicate snowflakes.

Iblis confesses that he has been restraining himself for far too long. No longer consumed by vengeance, he admits to Ka-young that his desire to kill her has vanished. In a surprising turn, Ka-young reveals that she, too, had once harbored similar feelings towards him.

Meanwhile, at Ejllael’s enigmatic building, Irem ponders over her boss's cryptic intentions. She vows to avoid further missteps, and in return, he restores her voice. In the dental clinic, Min-ji stumbles upon Mi-ju’s true identity while sifting through dental records, uncovering a hidden truth.

Pan-geum, sensing her end is near, begins making preparations for her demise. She dispatches Ka-young to the supermarket to fetch a few essentials. While there, Ka-young bumps into Bok-ja, who expresses concern that Ka-young might be suffering from dementia due to her forgetfulness about Im-seon, her former daughter-in-law.

That evening, over a few drinks, Ka-young queries Iblis about the inscriptions adorning the lamp’s walls. He is taken aback, for he has never laid eyes on them before. With a felt pen in hand, Ka-young meticulously traces the writings onto his walls. Together, they uncover that Iblis had penned extensively about a woman hailing from Gorgyeo.

The following day, the couple convenes Sade, Ejllael, and Irem. Sade proves to be of little assistance, his memory failing him. Irem mutilates her tongue to silence herself, while Ejllael plugs his ears to evade their queries and takes flight, leaving Ka-young’s roof in shambles. Amidst the chaos, Ka-young ponders whether the woman mentioned in the inscriptions could be Jinniya.

Simultaneously, Sang-tae summons Iblis to fulfill his final wish. Ka-young entrusts Iblis with her notebook, instructing him to deliver it to her past self. Sang-tae yearns to travel back to the fateful day in April when he claimed his last victim. This time, he intends to alter his methods, leaving no trace behind.

Iblis materializes in Ka-young’s past abode and hands her the notebook. Initially skeptical, she eventually believes him, and the notebook becomes her guiding light.

United in their purpose, they embark on a mission to avert the woman’s impending doom. Ka-young ensures that Sang-tae is caught in the act and apprehended. The woman expresses her gratitude to Iblis and Ka-young for saving her life.

Ka-young is deeply moved that a psychopath like herself could play a role in saving another’s life. Iblis, too, finds himself increasingly enamored with her.

He returns to the present and seals their connection with a kiss. He confesses that, according to the writings on his wall, he might have been in love with her in a past life. The most frequently repeated phrase, “Habibti,” translates to “my true love.” He vows to unearth his past memories to unravel the mystery of their shared history.
