Nate, however, is all business. He's still awaiting the finalization of the buyout on Cooper's leases, and Tommy is determined to be the one to sign the dotted line. M-Tex has already paid for Cooper's behalf, and there are significant consequences if Tommy falsely represents himself to a drill crew. Despite this, Tommy isn't interested in hearing about the risks.

Just as Nate is about to draft the contract and hand it over, Cami calls him and invites him to a meeting in Fort Worth. While Nate assumes it's a firing, Tommy believes it's a promotion to President. Since Tommy also has a meeting in Fort Worth, the two decide to travel together.

At the meeting with Cami, it becomes clear that she's trying to make Tommy the President, as he suspected. However, Tommy decides to resign instead. He knows the company won't last and wants to sell it, but if she's determined to drive it into the ground, he'll leave.

Cooper is in deep trouble as Ariana wakes up with cuts and bruises all over her. He begs her not to return to work at the bar, urging them to press charges and go to the police station to sort this out. While Ariana is being checked out, Cooper is interviewed by the cops. Unfortunately, he's there without a lawyer, leaving him in a vulnerable position to defend himself. The alleyway was recorded on CCTV, and the cops have counted the number of punches to a staggering 17. The thing is, Coop has struck the guy, Jonathan Reasner, past the point of him no longer being a threat... and he's dead.

Cooper is likely going to be charged with murder. When Ariana realizes this too, she hurriedly phones Rebecca for help. She races to the station, while also phoning Tommy to warn him that Cooper is in hot water. Tommy immediately calls in favors to try and resolve this situation. Rebecca arrives at the station, absolutely flooring the department with her threat and throwing her weight around. She promises to ruin all their lives if they go after Cooper.

At cheerleading camp, Paigyn is there and he actually helps Ainsley with her ankles, recognizing that they're not strong enough to hold all the weight. The pair patch up their differences and decide to give dorm-life another go. Meanwhile, Angela and Bella head out for lunch together. While there, Bella breaks the news about Tommy's firing and stirs the pot. Tommy does manage to smooth things over with his wife, but on his way back, he curses out God. In doing so, Tommy has his own Final Destination segment here, as a massive crash on the road almost costs him his life.

Tommy heads off to meet Dan next and explains how risky Cami's bet on the offshore drill actually is. Instead, he thinks Dan should hedge his bets with him. After all, he has 6 wells that are producing and has exclusive rights to drill wherever he wants. Tommy proposes that Dan honor the original deal with Cooper and extend it to include an additional $18 million for the next three wells. Dan will then recoup at 70%, and it'll be 50/50 forever between them. Instead of working for M-Tex, Tommy is going to establish M-Miller Enterprises. CTT Oil Exploration and Cattle is the LLC he's going for. Just before handing the cheque over, Dan warns that if Tommy messes this deal up, he's going to go straight for the thing Tommy loves the most – and he'll take it. On the private jet, Tommy has Nate set up the LLC and gives him the role of treasurer.

Is the Cooper situation resolved? Running on fumes, Tommy shows up at the police station. He's just gotten off the phone with the Chief of Staff at the hospital and he's not happy. It turns out that Reasner actually died at the ER from a heart attack. Given that charges haven't been filed and the cops are still sitting on the fence with this, they decide to sweep it under the rug and be done with it. Problem solved.

Tommy shows up to see Cooper next, and after giving him some encouraging words, brings the guy along for a trip to the oil wells. Tommy instructs him to bring everybody out to the pen.

As the episode of Landman season 2 comes to a close, we see a gathering of all the employees. Tommy reveals that they now have their own oil company, and they're going to drill the whole field. His proposal is that 25% of the profits are going to be distributed among all the employees. Cooper is going to be President, with Tommy as Vice-President. Everybody is in on it, and even Ariana is going to get a job too. Oh, and the CTT? Well, it stands for Cooper, Thomas, and Tommy.

As the episode closes out, Angela and Tommy sit and watch the sun setting that night, reflecting back on the game of life. Tommy defiantly turns away from God, promising that today is his. The scene ends with a sense of hope and determination, as the characters move forward together in their new venture.
