Memory of a Killer – Season 1 Episode 1 1

As Jeff asks to borrow their car for work, Angelo offers to drive Maria to the elementary school where she teaches. He tells Maria that he'll be going to work himself, but instead, he ends up in the basement of his hideout. He donns an all-black suit and retrieves his Porsche instead of the car he usually uses to drop Maria off.

It becomes clear that Angelo is not a salesman, as his family believes, but a professional assassin working on his next kill. His target, Zhang, walks into a restaurant where his partner, Joe, is waiting. Joe informs Angelo that Zhang has been moved to a different table, which would prevent him from killing the man outside the restaurant.

Angelo improvises and asks Joe to ensure the target is inside the bathroom. Joe expresses concern that Angelo won't be able to get a weapon inside the restaurant, but the assassin ignores the comment. He heads to the men's room and uses the tissue dispenser to kill Zhang and his bodyguards.

After completing the job, Angelo and Joe leave the restaurant. Someone starts snapping photos of the killer walking through the streets.

Angelo's boss and Joe's uncle, Dutch, hands Angelo his cut for successfully killing Zhang. The two men talk about Joe and their long-running friendship. Dutch mentions Al Beal, another famous assassin who was recently caught red-handed and arrested. The two men chat, and Dutch assumes that Angelo is still single, without a wife or kids.

Angelo visits a hospice to see his brother, Michael, whose condition due to Alzheimer's disease seems to be worsening. Michael's nurse, Jane, suggests music therapy to help with his mental health and treatment. As Angelo drives back home, he is confronted by a carrier vehicle and a car blocking him from both ends. Suspicious of the driver's gold watch, he escapes into a rooftop parking lot, where he watches the truck leave after his car vanishes from the underground lot.

Back at his apartment, Angelo forgets his door code and briefcase, sparking fears of losing his memories to Alzheimer's. He asks Joe to run the number plates of the truck that was following him and goes through his past assassination files, searching for photos of men wearing gold watches. He recognizes Carl, a man he saw taking pictures on the street, and recalls the Italian gangster he killed and the gangster's brother who is after him for revenge. Dutch promises to keep Angelo safe but is met with aggression from Angelo, who reminds Dutch that he works for him, not the other way around.

That night, as Angelo returns home, an ambulance follows him. He manages to drive away to his secret hideout, where he leaves his weapons and cash. He changes into normal clothes and drives to Maria's house for dinner, where he helps his daughter make their family soup. The scene is filled with tension and uncertainty as Angelo navigates his own personal struggles with memory loss and the lingering threat of retribution from the Italian gangster's brother.

Angelo is not impressed with Jeff's line of work and expresses his concern for Maria's future baby. Maria tries to defend Jeff, but Angelo remains worried for her. The trio raise a toast to Angelo's late wife, Leah, and after dinner, Angelo notices how much Maria is missing her mother and consoles her.

That night, Angelo recalls how Maria found Leah dead after someone had shot her. He goes back to his actual house and notices that someone has broken in. He tries to inspect it, but sees the same truck from earlier passing by across the street. Angelo grows worried and goes to Michael's care home. He tries to talk to his brother, who is no longer able to recognize him.

Angelo talks to Joe and concludes that Dutch may be hiding something. He goes to Carl's favorite nightclub and realizes that it is the same bar Dutch frequents. At the same time, a local cop and family friend, Dave, shows up at Maria's house looking for Angelo. He reveals that Angelo was not at home, which worries her. Maria tries to coerce Dave into talking, but he refuses to divulge any information about Leah's murder.

At the bar, Carl and his group are kicked out by the bartender, Nicky. Angelo tries to follow Carl but runs into Dutch, who forces him to stay. At home, Maria and Jeff discuss Angelo's dating life and wonder if he is seeing someone. Angelo leaves Dutch to go dancing as he makes small talk with Nicky.

He reveals that he is a hitman, but she refuses to believe him. He lies about being a photocopy salesman and takes Nicky to his apartment, where the door lock starts beeping again, causing Angelo to panic. Nicky uses the restroom, which allows Angelo to look through her bag. When he finds nothing inside, he hides his gun in a safe. The two hook up, and Nicky awakens the next morning and gets dressed. She goes looking for water in the fridge but leaves when she finds Angelo's gun there. Angelo is dumbfounded to find this, given he initially hid it in the safe.

The next morning, Angelo attacks Carl on the street and threatens him with following him. Carl denies knowing anything about what is happening to Angelo, but Angelo kills him. He makes it to Maria's sonography, where Jeff is also present. The trio learns that Maria is having a baby boy and celebrates. Just then, Angelo gets a call from Dave and learns that Leah's murderer, Earl, is free from prison due to his influential mob family.

Dutch texts Angelo to inform him about Carl's death and asks him to meet him. Angelo ignores the call and goes to a local restaurant where Maria and Jeff are waiting for him. Angelo notices a laser pointed at Maria and saves her from being attacked by a shooter from across the street. The episode ends with Angelo chasing the shooter, who is the man in the truck.
