As the opening episode of Nobody Wants Season 2 unfolds, Joanne beams to her podcast audience about her burgeoning, healthy relationship with the dashing rabbi, Noah. Morgan, though thrilled for her friend, muses on the strength of their bond, wondering if it's merely a product of the honeymoon phase. She dares Joanne to reevaluate her stance once the thrill wears off, but Joanne brushes her concerns aside, instead waxing poetic about Noah's carafe.

That night, as they prepare for their inaugural dinner party as a couple, Joanne and Noah discuss the final details with a mix of anticipation and anxiety. The next day, Rabbi Cohen summons Noah for a meeting, his curiosity piqued by the congregation's endless speculation on Joanne's potential conversion. Noah asserts that Joanne will embrace her decision at her own pace.
Just as they're getting ready for the dinner party, a secretary interrupts with news of Joanne's podcast, where she's gossiped about Noah's bedroom carafe.
As guests begin to arrive, Esther cautions Sasha against getting too cozy with Morgan, while Joanne and Noah fret over seating arrangements, lighting, and all the minutiae that come with hosting. Noah brings up the podcast incident and gently urges Joanne to keep his personal life out of her public discussions.
Their first guest, Ryann, arrives in tears, underdressed and reeling from Spencer's abrupt dumping. Esther and Sasha follow shortly after, leading to an instant frostiness between them. To defuse the tension, Esther calls for an impromptu meeting with Sasha and Morgan.
The scene is set for a night filled with intrigue, laughter, and perhaps even a few surprises as the characters navigate their complex dynamics and relationships in this new chapter of Nobody Wants.
For reasons unknown, Sasha wonders aloud about the possibility of a threesome. Thankfully, Esther steps in to clear the air, and it is decided that she will be the gatekeeper, vetting all of Sasha's friends before they can join in. Morgan, uninterested in the idea, is nonetheless taken aback when Esther decides to spice things up.
As Lenny arrives, Noah subtly broaches the topic of setting him up with Morgan. However, the plan falls through almost immediately. The party, though not as chaotic as anticipated, fails to live up to Joanne's vision of a perfect dinner. Ryann spends the night on the floor, weeping over her recent breakup. Morgan shows no interest in Lenny but is nonetheless offended when he doesn't ask for her number. Esther tries to be the life of the party but fails miserably.
However, things take a turn for the worse when Joanne's religious conversion is brought up in conversation. She clarifies that she is not converting, and the tension in the room is palpable. Morgan tries to distract her and leads Joanne to the bathroom. Joanne starts to panic that her relationship with Noah is over.
After the party, Noah and Joanne have a heart-to-heart conversation. He admits that her choice not to convert will complicate his life. On the other hand, Joanne is feeling pressure but is moved when she realizes that Noah got a new bedside table for her. They start making out and decide to put the religious conversion issue on hold for a while.
The next morning, Rabbi Cohen calls Noah for a meeting. Another rabbi interrupts, and it turns out that Rabbi Cohen has hired a new senior rabbi. To Noah's shock and hurt, he has been passed over. It is even worse since the new rabbi is his old nemesis, Big Noah.
The episode ends with a broken-hearted Noah leaving the meeting. He runs into Joanne, who is there to bring him some coffee, offering a small ray of hope in an otherwise bleak day.
