After their shopping spree, Noah requests a night off to prepare for his interview at the new temple, catching Joanne off guard. Her anxiety mounts as she texts him repeatedly without a response, eventually seeking solace at Morgan and Andy's. Andy counsels her to embrace the space between them, but Joanne can't help but worry that this night off signifies a rift in their blissful existence.

The next day, Noah aces his interview at Temple Ahava, an unconventional temple that feels like a perfect fit for both him and Joanne. The head rabbi's wife, too, is not of the faith, and the two bond over their modern take on Judaism. At the end of the interview, Neil extends Noah an offer he can't refuse.

As they reunite at the Purim party, Noah and Joanne are both nervous as this will be the first time their respective parents meet. Joanne inquires about the interview and Noah's night off, admitting to feeling "a bit mad" about it. Meanwhile, Esther arrives in a cat-inspired outfit instead of her usual Queen Esther attire, adding a touch of whimsy to the festivities. Noah's parents arrive on time, while Joanne's parents are 45 minutes late, causing some initial tension among the group.

Noah finally reveals his job offer to Bina, who marvels at how quickly it all happened. Of course, Bina is not thrilled about meeting Joanne's parents. However, after a few drinks and some small talk, they all find common ground. As the party rages on, Lynn experiences a religious epiphany while Noah explains the history of Purim, driving Joanne crazy as she was hoping for a similar realization herself. Meanwhile, Morgan shares her happiness with Sasha about her relationship with Andy, only serving to further irritate Joanne. Noah's excitement doesn't help matters either.

Speaking of trouble in paradise, Bina confides in Esther that she senses trouble brewing in her household. Joanne and Esther confide in each other and find comfort in their mutual misery. Esther advises Joanne to fake it until she makes it, but Joanne refuses, determined to be true to herself.

Later, Joanne shares her thoughts with Noah, confessing that the unexpected night off had disoriented her, leaving her with the impression that he lacked faith in her abilities. Noah, on the other hand, clarifies that his sole intention was to prepare for his upcoming interview, and in fact, he missed her presence so much that he was willing to wait patiently for her readiness to convert. With this understanding established, Noah delivers a speech that is both routine and charged with emotion. The speech inspires Andy to suddenly propose to Morgan, and as she says yes, Joanne feels a wave of dread sweeping over her.
