Published: Jul 09 2024

Episode 6 of Orphan Black: Echoes kicks off with Kira's urgent call to Josh, who elusively evades her queries. She soon realizes he's tinkered with the machine once again. Meanwhile, Neva uncovers the full truth and vows to aid Jules, but her husband, James, calls Pam, who, along with Darros Security, pose as child protection agents and abduct Jules.

As Kira returns home, she's pleasantly surprised to find Eleanor back from her work trip. After a month of Lucy's disappearance, Josh reveals that they can replicate Eleanor's clone from a version two years prior to her Alzheimer's diagnosis, using clear CT scans that preserve her memories. There's a promising new drug trial that might delay the progression of the disease. Although hesitant, Kira ultimately agrees and successfully prints Eleanor. Ecstatic to see her, Kira attempts a kiss, but Eleanor gently pushes her away. Kira's mind is elsewhere, focused on Lucy's mission to track down Josh.

On the other hand, Darros brings Jules to his farm and reveals that he's her creator. He refuses to divulge further information or allow her to enter the locked room, claiming she's free to leave. However, sonic barriers surrounding the farm prevent her escape. Xander, a worker, stumbles upon her and offers assistance. They chat about the Darros Foundation and its interests in plants while making their way back to the headquarters. She begs him to disable the sonic barrier, and he relents. They locate the clicker and make their way to the nearest barrier.

Meanwhile, Lucy and Kira rush to the nearest vet hospital and luckily uncover Josh's records. However, the address he provided is a mere P.O. box, prompting Lucy to seek Jack's assistance. Kira, on the other hand, rushes home, mindful of the time to administer Eleanor's medication.

Yet, she conducts this affair in secrecy, resorting to forcing Eleanor to indulge in "tea" even when her heart is not in it. The uneasy atmosphere persists during dinner, as Lucas arrives with his Quaker girlfriend, Rhona. Kira's disdain for religion is evident in her curt tone, leaving Rhona to smoothen the tension, but Eleanor is agitated and scolds Kira. As the couple retires for the night, Kira catches Eleanor sneakily texting her secret lover. Though inquisitive, Kira remains surprisingly composed, insisting that her happiness lies in Eleanor's. Eleanor, perplexed, laments that it is Kira's detachment that has driven them apart. Unable to fathom Kira's mind, she triggers haunting flashbacks of Eleanor's lifeless body. Declaring her transformation, Kira retreats to the living room.

Meanwhile, Xander and Jules' attempt to dismantle the sonic barrier falls flat. Xander interprets this as a sign for Jules to stay and contribute to the greater good. But she begs him to leave her alone, tears streaming down her face in the open field. With reluctance, she trudges back to the headquarters and chances upon Xander immersed in Darros' memories. It transpires that he is a mere replica of Darros, intent on extending his influence. Confronted by Jules, Xander apologizes for deceiving her, revealing that Darros had instructed him to gain her trust. He discloses that they are all under Darros' thumb, with no escape in sight. Enraged, Jules storms off and eventually breaches the locked room. Shocked, she stumbles upon Eleanor's file.

Elsewhere, Jack secures Josh's address, and Lucy passes it to Kira, who decides to check on Jules after a fruitless day of trying to reach her. Kira rushes into Josh's abode, finding him scrambling to pack and flee before Darros catches him. As she argues about the morality of allowing a billionaire like Darros to possess the machine, Josh's defenses shatter. He confesses his regrets, expresses his admiration for Kira, and in a moment of despair, pulls the trigger, ending his life in the final scene of Orphan Black: Echoes Episode 6.
