Seated solemnly beside his coffin, Harcourt is approached by Rick Flag Senior, who attempts to lighten the mood with a macabre joke about how they both should have become accountants instead. He then turns serious, seeking answers about who took his son's life, but Harcourt remains tight-lipped, unable to divulge any information.

Peacemaker – Season 2 Episode 5 1

Rick Senior reveals that his son had deep feelings for Harcourt, a notion she initially tries to brush off. However, he sees through her denial, acknowledging the unique bond they shared. With a tone of genuine support, he assures her that he's there to help in any way she needs. As he rises to mingle with the other mourners, Harcourt makes a solemn vow to avenge Rick Junior's death.

Cutting back to the present, Rick Flag and his entire team are hunkered down in a park, with Harcourt anxiously awaiting Christopher's arrival. When he finally shows up, their suspicion is immediately piqued. Christopher is seen affectionately petting dogs, mingling closely with the crowd, and doing everything in his power to avoid presenting an easy target. It's evident that he's onto something.

As Christopher sits down with Harcourt, her frustration boils over. She confronts him about a coded message she sent—"copacetic"—a warning signal they've established. He should have heeded it and stayed clear, yet here he is, blissfully ignorant of the danger. Christopher, however, is unfazed. His sole concern is to ascertain whether Harcourt harbors any genuine feelings for him.

Her anger flares, and she responds coldly, dismissing any notion of affection. In a final, harsh blow, she claims that the kiss they shared was merely a drunken mistake and that she feels nothing for him. As Christopher departs, the A.R.G.U.S. agents attempt to intercept him, forming a human barrier. They encircle him, but Christopher is cunning, managing to evade their grasp and preventing them from taking a clear shot.

While the rest of the team waits anxiously for Christopher to make his next move, Bordeaux steps forward, confident in her marksmanship. Using a specialized tool that calculates the margin of error for her shot, she is nearly certain she can take him down. Rick gives her the go-ahead, prompting Harcourt to spring into action. With a swift move, she tackles Christopher to the ground, preventing the potentially fatal shot.

Upon their return to A.R.G.U.S., Harcourt swiftly contacts Economus, her voice laced with urgency as she reveals the sole path to saving Chris: booking him. An arrest record, she explains, would serve as a deterrent, preventing Flag from carrying out what she suspects is his true intention—to end Chris's life.

Economus, ever the informant, shares another piece of critical information: Bordeaux is a cyborg. She had been in a plane accident that claimed a portion of her brain. In a desperate bid to save her, that lost part was replaced with a mechanical substitute.

Meanwhile, Rick ushers Peacemaker into a secluded room, ordering everyone else to vacate. Once alone, Rick unleashes his fury, pummeling Chris to the ground. Despite Chris's desperate attempts to apologize for his past transgressions, Rick remains unmoved, his blows relentless.

Ultimately, it is Economus who steps in, booking Chris before the situation escalates into something far worse. Bordeaux, witnessing this, expresses her disapproval, but Fleury defends Economus's actions as the right move. As Peacemaker lies bloodied and defeated on the floor, the cyborg informs Rick Flag of the events that transpired.

Elsewhere, Red St. Wild advances his sinister plot to eliminate Eagly. He injects venom into a rat and hurls it in front of Chris's backup house. Eagly, enticed by the prospect of a meal, is about to pounce when Leota and Adrian intervene, announcing their intention to retrieve Chris's father.

This distraction buys precious time for a fox to snatch the rat away. Eagly, determined not to let his prey escape, gives chase, only to watch in horror as the fox devours the rat whole. Seconds later, the fox begins to vomit uncontrollably and succumbs to the poison.

Lee and Adrian manage to locate Chris, who proceeds to recount the events that unfolded after he left the house. He is convinced that Harcourt betrayed him, orchestrating everything to secure her position. In his mind, Economus is the sole savior responsible for his survival. However, Lee finds this explanation perplexing and struggles to believe it encompasses the entire situation. They are so engrossed in their discussion that they fail to notice Judomaster tailing them.

Back at A.R.G.U.S., Bordeaux makes her way to Rick's office. Before she can utter a word, he preempts her, acknowledging that she likely intends to say he's too emotionally involved and that his judgment is clouded. Yet, despite his apparent turmoil, Rick seems to maintain his composure and focus.

Flag admits, with a hint of twisted satisfaction, that he relished the moments he spent beating Peacemaker down, but he claims it was all part of a grand scheme. He reveals that he only urged Peacemaker to take the shot because he knew Harcourt would leap into action to save her comrade. Moreover, he was aware that by thoroughly thrashing Peacemaker, the hero would be convinced it was out of revenge and wouldn't suspect a grander design at play. Nor would Chris realize that someone was tailing him. Once Flag lays out his plan, Bordeaux can't help but express admiration, acknowledging the need to handle Chris.

Red St. Wild springs into action, enacting plan B. He flips open a briefcase to reveal a colossal firearm. Spotting his target soaring in the skies, he unleashes two rapid shots until the bird plummets to the earth. He rushes to the fallen creature's side to confirm his success; he believed he had vanquished his mortal foe. Or so he thought. Suddenly, Eagly swoops in, accompanied by a squadron of eagles. They snatch the gun from Wild's grasp and hurl him to the ground.

As Wild catches sight of the primal eagle symbol emblazoned behind Eagly, he begins to babble apologies incessantly. But it's already too late. The flock of birds descends upon him, tearing the hunter to shreds.

Meanwhile, Chris is penning a farewell letter to his friends. He sends a message to Lee and prepares to bid farewell to this dimension for good. Just then, Eagly saunters in, as if nothing had transpired, ready to embark on a new adventure with him.

Chris activates the dimensional tool near the portal, causing it to crackle with energy. He and Eagly step through, entering the pocket dimension.

Unbeknownst to them, Judomaster is witnessing everything. He frantically tries to call Fleury to report the developments, but the portal's interference renders their communication futile. In a last-ditch effort, the villain scribbles a note for his team and plunges into the rift after Peacemaker.

Lee and Adrian finally arrive at the house, only to watch the portal vanish before their eyes. Lee instantly deduces that Chris has fled to the alternate dimension and sealed the door behind him. Then, she spots a note bearing Cheeto's fingerprints, indicating that someone else had followed through the door. With that realization, she knows Judomaster was there too.

Before departing, they retrieve the metallic tool and Chris's letter. On the road, they spot a convoy of cars, likely belonging to A.R.G.U.S., speeding towards the dimensional rift. However, when the agents arrive, they find nothing but emptiness.

Adebayo reads Chris's letter aloud to Harcourt, Adrian, and Economus. In it, Chris confesses that despite his best efforts, he couldn't atone for his past mistakes. Doubting whether redemption was possible for him in this world, he had decided to seek a fresh start in another dimension.

Harcourt refuses to accept this. She rallies everyone for a new mission: to find a way to make the tool work and bring Chris back from the alternate dimension.

Meanwhile, Chris is thoroughly enjoying himself. He, Eagly, his brother, and their father join forces to defeat a Kaiju. Afterward, he makes his way to A.R.G.U.S. headquarters to reunite with Harcourt. Overjoyed to see him, she rushes into his arms the moment he steps inside the building.
