Matthew and Ye-jin take a seat by the river, where he commends her for being bold and doing what was right. She pledges her support to him whenever he needs it. Meanwhile, Eric storms into L'Etoile's lab and halts production of the essence, only to receive an angry call from his sister Michelle about his actions. Later, he meets with Director Dong and other HIT board members, who agree to give L'Etoile a follow-up show. Both Director Dong and Eric agree to retesting the product.

Online, the narrative diverges. An article from L'Etoile rejects all claims of a mistake on their part, leaving Ye-jin to bear the consequences. Matthew checks in on her using Kwang-mo's phone and also defends Eric, stating that they are still investigating whether the fault was with L'Etoile.

Ye-jin confronts the HIT board members, who decide that firing her is the best course of action. She confidently tells them that they will soon realize she made the right call and leaves the room with her head held high. She visits her doctor to get more sleeping pills but receives another warning about the dangers of her insomnia.

Upon returning home, she is surprised to find Myung-hwa waiting for her. Myung-hwa urges Ye-jin to promise never to sell cosmetics again, which angers Ye-jin. In turn, Ye-jin accuses Myung-hwa of abandoning her, prompting Myung-hwa to storm off.

In his lab, Matthew continues to run the numbers, exhausted. Mu-woon notices his exhaustion and takes him out for dinner. He reassures him that what happened last time was Mr Choi's fault, not his.

That night, Ye-jin takes her pills and starts sleepwalking again. She calls Matthew, who realizes she's on the street, in danger of being hit by traffic. He rushes out and finds her heading towards the HIT office. He shields her from other people leaving the office building and then puts his shoes on her bare feet.

In the morning light, Ye-jin's eyes flutter open to the sight of her feet wrapped in bandages. Matthew, now a familiar presence in her home, attempts to engage her in conversation about her condition, but she avoids his words, eventually collapsing under the weight of her own emotions, whispering that she's already a mess.

Meanwhile, Michelle calls Eric, berating him for agreeing to the retest of their product. Eric's response is a subtle hint that he's had enough of Michelle's dominance throughout their lives and that he won't tolerate it much longer.

Matthew escorts Ye-jin to Deokpung, where she soon passes out upon arrival. They rush her to the hospital, where Dr. Jung-muk informs her that she's running on empty and in desperate need of rest. After her release, the villagers pretend they have no room for her, forcing her to take refuge at Matthew's house.

Matthew insists that she sleep in the bed, and as they stroll through the town, he confesses that he once suffered from insomnia himself. He urges Ye-jin to let go and simply breathe. Back in the city, Eric receives plane tickets to return to France.

In Deokpung, Matthew imposes an hourly schedule on Ye-jin, including a morning run. He tries various methods to help her sleep, such as purchasing a special pillow and adding lavender to her room. One night, she catches him wandering the house in a peculiar manner. Another night, she finds him reading a poetry book and joins him. In the morning, she realizes she fell asleep on his shoulder and rushes back to her room, surprised that she actually slept through most of the night.

Before heading to work, Matthew informs Ye-jin that he'll be home late due to a lab inspection. Bored and aimless, Ye-jin tries to clean the house but realizes there's nothing left to clean. She finally understands what Matthew was doing around the house at night – he covered all the sharp corners of tables and shelves with soft fabrics, just in case Ye-jin sleepwalks.

Matthew returns home late at night and finds her asleep on the couch. As he gently adjusts her position, she awakens and kisses him, saying she's missed him.
