Boris is seen skinning a dog while the rest of the family sleeps peacefully. The following morning, Nicky wakes up alone in their bed. It transpires that Rachel woke up early and left to buy apology flowers and a cake for the family. She returns and gifts Jude a toy, but he doesn't seem to like it, stating that he wanted a camera instead. He suggests that she just write a card for everyone, and she follows his advice, grabbing a card and writing a message.
Meanwhile, the eerie figure continues to watch the family, its presence unsettling and unexplained. Rachel heads to her room and finds Nicky in a state of distress after learning that Victoria is dying. He is on the phone trying to get medical experts, panicking as he asserts that his mother's health is the most important thing to him. Rachel suggests cancelling the wedding to give him enough time to process everything, but he insists that they get married, and she gifts him a cute Teddy bear with the word '4ever' written on it.
Portia interrupts to check if everything is ready. She is anxious and angry at Rachel for assuming that they were out to kill her. Rachel offers to help with the wedding arrangements and apologizes once again. As she spends some time with Portia, she realizes that she is throwing herself into the wedding arrangements as a distraction. Portia wants perfection and won't take anything else.

Without responding directly, Victoria states her desire to be buried alongside her entire family. She adds that Boris is preoccupied with something else after finalizing the grave's arrangements. Rachel wonders if Victoria feels that everyone is handling this situation well and suggests they converse and lean on each other for support. Victoria, however, shifts the focus onto Rachel, inquiring how she processed her mother's death. Rachel explains that her mother passed away before her birth, leaving nothing for her to confront. Victoria finds this presumptuous and states that Rachel is essentially what's left of her mother.
In a separate corner, Jules and Nell find themselves in a heated argument in the bathroom. Nell feels that Jules's story about the Sorry Man led Rachel to believe they wanted to harm her. Jules insists that Portia was the one who brought up the story and goes on to blame Nicky for dating emotionally unstable women. He even asks Nell to drown him as their argument escalates. Rachel enters the bathroom, finding them in this awkward predicament. Nell requests that she wait while he confronts Jules, essentially calling him an emotionally stunted man.
Later, Nell and Jules apologize and insist that being brutally honest with each other is the key to a happy marriage. Ultimately, Nell selects what they will have for dinner. In the meantime, Jude discovers a locked room and shares with Rachel that he feels someone is hiding behind it. Rachel urges him to stop being paranoid and gifts him an old camera instead.
She then approaches Boris and finds him in a disagreement with Nicky about Victoria's decision to die on her own terms. Boris clarifies that he is supporting his wife and requests that they respect Victoria's choices. Frustrated, Rachel calls for a family meeting and asks everyone to try and process their feelings. Prior to their reunion, Rachel invites Nell to accompany her into the woods. As they stroll through the trees, they quickly form a bond, realizing that despite their differences, they share a remarkable bond. They retrieve the scarecrow crafted by Jude and carry it back to the house. Rachel suggests using the scarecrow as a medium to express their feelings to Victoria. They pay their respects to Victoria and bid their final farewells, allowing them to come to terms with her impending demise. Following the ceremony, they dispose of the scarecrow by burning it.
Upon returning to the house, Jude utilizes his newly acquired camera to capture various moments. He discovers that the locked door is ajar and ventures inside. To his surprise, it leads to Boris' taxidermy room, where he encounters a man standing in one of the cabinets. It's unclear whether the man is alive or merely a skinned representation of the other deceased animals.
After the ceremony, Rachel decides to indulge in a slice of cake before retiring for the night. On her way to her room, she's unexpectedly kidnapped by a mysterious man.
