Something Very Bad is Going to Happen – Season 1 Episode 5 1

Rachel heads to the room, hiding the marriage certificate from the witness and climbing into bed with Nicky, trying to pretend everything is fine. Unbeknownst to him, she's actually being quite romantic and clingy. Meanwhile, Jules gets back in bed with Nell and tells her everything about the curse.

A few hours later, they get ready for the rehearsal, with Rachel doing her best to reassure herself that Nicky is indeed her soulmate. At the party, everyone is effusive in their congratulations and showering the couple with praise.

Boris starts off the ceremony with a touching story about how he and Victoria met at the hospital. Victoria joins him, and together they portray the picture of perfect soulmates. At the end of his speech, they ask the guests to share their relationship wisdom with the couple.

Throughout the episode, the couple receives a barrage of advice on how to maintain a perfect marriage. Everyone is curious as to how Rachel and Nicky met, so she tells them how she met Nicky while on a flight to Chicago. Before the flight, Rachel was feeling overwhelmed with dread, so bad that she refused to get on the plane. Like her hero, Nicky came to her aid and suggested they drive to Austin together.

Rachel believes it was cosmic fate that Nicky understood her dread, and they were meant to be on the same flight. She even goes so far as to say how Nicky saved her life that day. The scene is filled with a sense of destiny and fate, as if something truly magical is at play in this relationship.

Rachel later confides to Nell that the curse wouldn't be a concern, as Nicky was her soulmate. Throughout the evening, Rachel regaled anyone who would listen with their enchanting meet-cute story. However, Jules persistently posed valid questions, such as why Nicky was traveling to Austin. Nicky fibbed, claiming he was there to meet a college friend. Jules and Nell began piecing together the timeline and realized that Nicky was already dating someone when he first met Rachel. In fact, he was supposed to be flying back home for Nell's and Jules' wedding, not to Chicago.

After a public confrontation, Nicky revealed that his ex-girlfriend dumped him that day, and he didn't want to attend the wedding alone. He didn't believe Rachel's feelings of dread; he was using her to avoid dealing with the end of his relationship. He wasn't even on the same flight. In anger, Nicky lashed out at Jules for revealing the truth, and Rachel was disappointed. She left the room, only to be accidentally bumped by a waiter carrying a tray of drinks.

Nick followed her and apologized. He refused to believe that Rachel was just a rebound for him. Of course, Rachel felt betrayed that Nicky saw her as a distraction and adventure instead of believing her instincts. She was also confused to learn that Nicky had invited her dad to the wedding behind her back. He claimed he just wanted Rachel to have at least one family member at the wedding, since she had no one, not even a friend.

Rachel changed her clothes as Nicky worried if they were still getting married. He told her that she was overreacting, just like how she did at the airport, because the plane never crashed. In other words, he minimized her feelings and made her feel like she was always being unnecessarily paranoid.

They headed back to the rehearsal dinner, where Rachel apologized for Nicky and Jules' behavior before revealing the curse. The awkward silence that followed was baffling. She concluded her speech by sitting down and saying to Nicky, "That was the plane crashing!"
