Task – Season 1 Episode 5 1

On the investigative front, the task force engages in a conversation with Alexander Jovanovic, the man who had a confrontation with Robbie and witnessed Sam. They also learn that Maeve's fingerprints were discovered on the bucket Sam was carrying. Meanwhile, Perry ingeniously places a GPS tracker on Eryn's car and then pays a visit to Robbie's house under the guise of wanting to peruse Billy's belongings. As he sifts through a box, Maeve whispers for Sam to hide, but Perry misses him as he catches a glimpse of a photo of Cliff and Robbie on the fridge.

Later, Maeve confides in her friend Bridgette, asking her to keep an eye on Harper and Wyatt for a few days. Meanwhile, Eryn and Robbie converge at their secret meeting spot by the lake. Eryn reveals that she saw Jayson covered in blood that morning and believes they have found Cliff. Perry, following closely behind, sees Robbie drive away and corners Eryn as she attempts to flee by diving into the lake. A struggle ensues, and Perry, distracted by a nearby group of people, inadvertently drowns her.

Elsewhere, Robbie pays Freddy a visit, announcing his intention to sell fentanyl. Freddy, in accordance with his deal with Jayson, informs the Dark Hearts. The episode reaches its climax when Anthony meets Jayson – the informant himself. He discloses to Jayson what the FBI knows, and Jayson reveals that Robbie has met with Freddy.

Tom arrives at the Prendergrast house and pretends to be investigating a cold case regarding Billy before requesting to use the bathroom as a ruse to gain time. However, Robbie soon becomes suspicious and holds Tom at gunpoint, forcing him to drive them away from the house. Anthony arrives shortly after this exchange, realizing something is amiss.

Jayson's presence at Perry's abode marks a bold move as he whispers a plan to extract Robbie during his meeting with Freddy at the secluded locale of Bushkill. Perry, concealing the scars of his battle with Eryn, joins the fray, unaware that Anthony's urgent text to Jayson halts their trek. As the FBI commences its hunt for Tom, the air thickens with tension.

In the car, Tom and Robbie engage in a thought-provoking conversation about religion and the mysteries of death. Sarah and Emily, caught in the web of events, receive news of Tom's whereabouts. Waiting in uneasy silence, Sarah confides her own heartache—a recent separation from a cheating husband—and urges Emily not to feel indebtedness in her own life.

Robbie unexpectedly orders Tom to stop the car amidst the forest's canopy. With a surprising gesture, he returns Tom's wallet and tasks him with a mile-long walk to the main road. Robbie pleads with Tom to ensure Maeve is not burdened by his past transgressions. Despite the option to return home, Robbie's words hint at a profound disconnection from his former life.

Tom trudges through the forest, eventually reaching a lakeside park brimming with families. Borrowing a phone from a passerby, he calls his family and colleagues, assuring them of his safety while also instructing his coworkers to trace Robbie's vehicle via its radio company's tracking system.

As the key players converge around the river's edge, including members of the task force and the Dark Hearts, Tom spots Robbie by the water's edge and calls out for him to surrender. The episode ends with Robbie's finger tightly around the trigger of his gun, setting the stage for a climactic showdown to come.
