As the sixth episode of Task unfolds by the riverside, Tom brandishes a gun at Robbie, forcing him to the ground. Perry, seeing this, orders his men to take cover, but Jayson, determined to obtain the drugs, decides to take matters into his own hands and attempts to shoot Robbie. Chaos erupts as Robbie, Tom, and the FBI engage in a shootout with the Dark Hearts. The struggle ends with Robbie and Tom fleeing to the cabin seen at the end of Episode 5. Robbie urges Tom to hide, revealing his plan, and then dashes off with Jayson hot on his heels. In a desperate act, Robbie throws the bag of drugs into the river.

As Anthony and Lizzie make their way back to their car, they cross paths with members of the Dark Hearts. Anthony fires a shot that echoes through the woods, causing Lizzie to clutch her ear in pain, bleeding from a wound.
Inside the cabin, Tom and Perry engage in a fierce fight, with Tom emerging victorious and knocking Perry unconscious. Outside in the woods, Jayson stabs Robbie during their struggle. Tom arrives just in time to see Jayson flee. The sheriff's car soon arrives, and he helps Tom transport Robbie to the hospital. However, it's a fifteen-minute drive away, and Robbie is bleeding out.
Meanwhile, Anthony encounters one of the Dark Hearts men and orders him to the car. But fate intervenes as the man crosses paths with Lizzie, who shoots him. Lizzie, still in pain, heads to the car and radios for help. However, she doesn't realize the Dark Hearts' truck is approaching her. They ram her car and take off. Anthony reaches her just in time to find her gone. Back in the sheriff's car, Robbie reflects on his children before passing away.
Later in the hospital, Kathleen recovers from her gunshot wound. Special agents Dale and Marcus arrive and inform the team that their assignment is over. The task force will be disbanded, but there will be an investigation into Lizzie's death. Tom returns home to find out that Sara and Andy are divorced.
As Aleah goes to retrieve her things from the safe house, she discovers FBI officers sifting through it. She realizes they must be investigating one of them. Mike, the chief deputy of the Delaware County Sheriff's Office and Anthony's boss, arrives at Anthony's house. He informs him that the FBI has questioned him about his actions and warns him to keep his head while being interviewed.
As the tension mounted, Tom delivered the news to Maeve with a heavy heart. While speaking with her, a realization dawned on Tom that Robbie and Cliff had headed to Wissahickon Park, not Bailey Park, on the day of the sting operation. Despite Maeve's involvement in the case, Tom made every effort to ensure she wouldn't face charges. In the end, the police let Maeve go, and she reunited with Harper and Wyatt with relief.
Back at home, Andy arrived and departed just as swiftly, accompanied by his son. Sara watched them leave with a mix of emotions, and Emily, who was nearby, gave her a comforting hug. Tom visited Sam, who had been held in a juvenile detention facility due to a lack of funding for proper housing. Unwilling to leave Sam in the detention center, Tom brought him home, prompting his daughters to wonder if this was the right decision given their current circumstances. But Tom felt he had no choice.
Later, Tom visited Kathleen, who was recovering from her ordeal. She revealed that her retirement day had been moved up and that she would be out as soon as they found a replacement. She then shared that her people had found a complaint against Anthony, on the suspicion that he was tipping off the Dark Hearts. But no charges had been filed yet.
Tom visited Anthony under the guise of checking in on him. He brought up the matter of Wissahickon Park and asked Anthony point-blank if he had directed Cliff there. After a lengthy discussion about sins and confessions, Anthony essentially admitted it when he said there was no proof. Tom told him he was coming for him.
Tom then visited Aleah and gave her the update. Meanwhile, Jayson and Perry were in hiding, their nerves frayed by Eryn's continued absence. While searching the river, they found the bag Robbie had thrown in it, but inside was nothing but magazine cut-outs. At Maeve's house, Shelley dropped off another bag, this one full of cash, adding yet another layer of intrigue to the already tangled web of events.
