In the opening scene of Episode 1 of Tehran season 3, we're taken to a nuclear site in Natanz, Iran, where Eric Peterson, a nuclear supervisor, joins a group of other workers for an inspection. However, Peterson has an ulterior motive - he's working undercover and is installing a spy camera in the fire alarm. Just as he's about to finish his task, the supervisors are suddenly summoned out of the facility. They've received news that General Mohammadi is dead, and security is now on high alert. Peterson has no choice but to see his mission through.

Tehran – Season 3 Episode 1 1

Meanwhile, across the city, an explosion rocks Iran, which Peterson witnesses from his balcony. This coincides with the shocking ending of season 2, where Milad was killed in a car bomb. Tamar was trying to escape with him, but now she's on her own and has no choice but to flee.

Mossad quickly catches up to her, and an assassin named Amir hunts her down at the bus depot. A tense shootout ensues, during which Tamar uses all her tricks to defeat the assassin. She also tries to convince Yulia to let bygones be bygones, but that's just wishful thinking at this point. Mossad is after her, and Yulia gives the order to "activate the Owl."

When things finally calm down, Tamar is able to mourn her beloved. With Milad dead, she burns his passport in a burning barrel, letting the cold tears sting her cheeks as she says goodbye. Unfortunately, this momentary lapse of despair makes her vulnerable to a group of predators who try to take advantage of her. Tamar manages to find refuge with a couple of women nearby who bring her into their sanctuary. She uses the alias of Sara and concocts a story about her abusive husband.

At the IRGC Counter Intelligence Headquarters in Tehran, Faraz Kamali receives word of the car bombing. He feigns ignorance to the General's death, although his wife, Nahid, is a different matter. She's plagued by nightmares over Marjan's murder and struggles to hold it together. That night, Tamar received a message from Talia within the Mossad office. Talia revealed that the Owl was after her and encouraged Tamar to head over to Marjan's place as the intel reports were there. Tamar arrived in the morning to grab the laptop but also needed a dongle to go with it. The dongle was inside a locked safe (which she had helped secure), and eventually, she managed to slip away undetected. Unfortunately, Mossad arrived just as she was about to leave, and Tamar had to act fast to avoid arousing suspicion.

Tamar got inside and decrypted the files, but it didn't take long for Mossad to start running a check to find her. The files indicated an unverified source reporting top-secret shipments, with the General personally involved. These shady individuals would arrive disguised as a medical company called PersCargo at a warehouse south of the city. The day of their arrival was today, and Tamar managed to stop her search just in time. However, Mossad (and in particular Yulia) realized that one of their own might be working with Tamar.

Meanwhile, Eric Peterson was awoken in the night by his associate, Nico. It was about "fire safety," and he was concerned for Peterson's wellbeing and what he might be doing. Peterson shrugged it off, explaining that the camera wasn't even live in the plant. It was incredibly dangerous, and this could get them all killed, but Eric wanted to go back and finish the job, much to Nico's dismay.

After the General's death, Eric Peterson and the other supervisors were being kept inside their hotel due to anti-American protestors outside. Faraz showed up, reinforcing that they were being kept there for their safety. However, it was against the law, so he had no choice but to begrudgingly let them go. With the General gone, Larijani took over and didn't seem quite as forthright with Faraz. Faraz was excused from a big meeting with the authorities when he tried to question the man's authority.

Tamar sneaked into the warehouse, looking for the shipment. She found a couple of workers acting incredibly shady, handling critical nuclear weapon components. Tamar managed to record them on her phone and her next port of call was Faraz's place. Unbeknownst to her, Yulia managed to capture Talia in cold blood. She held Nahid up at gunpoint, leaving everything hanging in the balance.
