Episode 2 of That Night begins from Paula's perspective as she flushes away old flight tickets and all of Wilfredo's belongings. In the interrogation tapes, Paula laments that none of this would have happened if "someone" had listened to her. The scene cuts to the Arbizu pet clinic in Pamplona, Spain, a week ago.

Elena is the receptionist, while Paula is a vet at the clinic. Paula struggles with anger issues and gets into a confrontation with a careless dog owner. He pushes her, and her family worries about her, especially since she's trying to conceive through IVF. We soon learn that her father, Dr. Javier Arbizu, is just as manipulative as she is.
He makes Paula feel guilty for not taking better care of her body but also acts helpless, so that she will continue to manage the clinic. He blames Luisa for Paula's decision to quit their hunting expeditions. Cris, the customer service angel, pushes Paula to return the next week in exchange for housing a poisoned dog.
On their way to the Dominican Republic, Luisa is ecstatic about the potential pregnancy and is overly attentive to Paula's body. At the airport bathroom, Paula receives a call that she's pregnant. However, we realize that she never actually wanted to get pregnant. She only tried for Luisa's sake. She sees a single mother struggling and recalls her mother saying she was the happiest when pregnant. Paula muses, "Never trust mothers."
She tells Luisa that she's not pregnant, but the latter isn't deterred, as they'll keep trying, which scares Paula. For the rest of the trip, they engage in all sorts of adventurous activities that Luisa wouldn't have allowed otherwise. We also learn that they are married.
Elena is bored since she can't party much, and Paula reluctantly reveals that Luisa will gladly babysit Ane. She frets about having a kid, and Elena immediately catches on that Paula is pregnant. She thinks it's cruel to keep such a thing from Luisa who has gone through something. However, Paula fears that she may end up like their mother and leave a defenseless kid to pay the price. Cris overhears and suggests birth charts while Elena talks about self-sabotaging voices. On top of that, Javier keeps texting, demanding updates, and Paula has had enough.
As they babysit Ane, Paula and Luisa embark on a cooking class where the teacher, who is pregnant, encourages them to start a family. However, their comments are outdated and insensitive towards lesbians, prompting Paula to lash out in anger. She storms off and drives for two hours, lost in thought about her own mother.
A flashback reveals a young Paula pleading with Cris for help, her mother having messed up while babysitting Elena and Roberto, a possible fourth child. When she finally unlocks the bathroom door, she discovers her mother almost drowning a child in the bathtub.
In the present, Paula goes to a pharmacy and buys a variety of pills. She forgets her wallet and leaves her Apple Watch as payment. The pharmacist realizes that the combination of pills can cause an abortion and begins to judge and insult her for her decision. She snaps, breaking things and trying to attack him until someone stops her.
Just as she is about to take the pills, Elena calls for help. She tells Paula that Wilfredo, a cop, came out of nowhere and she accidentally ran him over. Paula is coming up with a plan when Elena sheepishly reveals that she first called Cris because Paula wasn't answering. Aware that their sister is quite righteous, they come up with a fake story of Wilfredo trying to rob Elena. Elena wants to burn the body and wash the cars to eliminate any fingerprints, but Paula insists on a better plan. Elena spots one of the pills and Paula remembers leaving her Apple Watch at the pharmacy.
When she returns, she sees an upset Luisa waiting for her all night. The cooking couple also reported Paula, and Luisa had to deal with the cops alone. Paula rambles as she weaves a terrible lie about how the sisters saved a kitten and got into a confrontation with a cartel. She tries to gaslight Luisa when she doesn't believe her.
While flushing Wilfredo's belongings, Paula sees that he has a court order ordering Elena to stay in the country. Paula is stunned and right then, a sad Luisa spots her. Wanting to make her happy, Paula shares that she is pregnant.
In conclusion, this sequence of events reveals the complexities of family dynamics and the struggles that arise from outdated attitudes and personal conflicts. Through Paula's journey, we see the impact of past traumas and how they can shape one's decisions and actions in the present.
