The episode begins with Luisa's perspective, as she muses on her seemingly insatiable urge to repeat the same mistakes. She declares herself insane and raises her hands in surrender, just as a menacing knock at the door disrupts the moment, accompanied by flashing police car lights illuminating the room. The scene cuts to Cris sharing that the police have arrived at their hotel room in the Dominican Republic, responding to a cooking teacher's fabricated story that Paula had spit milk in her husband's face. Paula is ordered to appear in court within five weeks. The officer, noticing Paula's mud-covered appearance, jokes that she must be quite the klutz.

On the way to the airport, Luisa comments on the strange circumstances surrounding Elena's and Cris's threats. Paula ignores her and stops at a pharmacy for her Apple Watch, convincing Luisa to remain in the car by claiming she's just grabbing some aspirin. Luisa brings up the kitten, prompting a fumbling response from Cris, revealing that the sisters had kept something from her. Luisa is now convinced they're hiding something.
At the airport, Luisa buys Paula her favorite rum, confessing that she had bought one for the trip but had smashed it out of anger the previous night. Paula forgives her, and Luisa attempts to get her to share her secret. However, Paula remains tight-lipped.
Over the next few weeks in Spain, every time Luisa brings up children or they have a gynecologist's appointment, Paula becomes uncomfortable. One night, Luisa discovers Paula intently focused on her phone and hides it when called upon.
On the day Wil's body is discovered, Luisa is out with Cris, discussing suicide rates among veterans. Cris expresses gratitude that she didn't get critical cases in the Dominican Republic. Luisa brings up the kitten again, and Cris has forgotten all about it. Later, Luisa follows her and watches from afar as the three sisters argue. She doesn't hear much but is shocked to see Paula slap Elena.
Returning home, Luisa researches signs of a cheater online. That night, she goes through Paula's Apple Watch data and discovers that she had visited the pharmacy on "that night." When Paula wakes up and finds her with the watch, it leads to a full-blown confrontation.
With the discussion of location, Luisa's mind drifts to the missing handcuffs and the slap, leading her to believe that Paula is cheating on her. Paula attempts to gaslight her, claiming that Luisa is projecting her toxic relationship with her ex onto their own. This hurts Luisa deeply, and Paula regrets it. She shares that it all started with her wanting to support her family after her mother almost drowned the babies. However, Paula lies about being stressed due to Elena's gambling problem, the pregnancy, and Cris's replacement at the clinic. She apologizes profusely, but Luisa doesn't believe her.
The next day, Luisa calls the pharmacy to inquire about Paula and is met with a harsh response from the pharmacist. Confused, she shows up at the clinic and engages in conversation with Elena, pretending to know what happened at the pharmacy. Elena replies that she's glad she doesn't have to hide the attempted abortion anymore. Heartbroken, Luisa confronts Paula and declares that it's over. She finally realizes that Paula has been gaslighting and trauma dumping on her.
Right then, the cops arrive and arrest Elena. Before Paula is arrested, she quickly tells Luisa about Wil and begs for her help. The flashing lights and the cops hammering down the door overwhelm Luisa. She is arrested as well until they confirm her alibi via her digital presence. Cris is the last one to get arrested, and we learn that the cops are being careful since their mother committed suicide, and they believe that the sisters may be similarly inclined.
Luisa drops off Paula's medicines at Javier's and he tries to convince her to stay for appearances. When she refuses, he turns on her, calling her weak for abandoning Paula when times get hard. At that moment, Paula uses her one phone call to apologize for everything and asks Luisa to move on and be happy. Luisa sees the photos of Paula's mother and Javier glaring at her and changes her mind. She tells Paula not to let her family bring them down.
Once the call ends, Luisa tells Javier that he has been ruining his family and that he's never going to see Paula or their child again. In response, he's misogynistic and homophobic while gloating that Paula will always choose him, and the child is biologically an Arbizu. She rushes out as reporters clamor to get a quote. She hides in her car and reflects that she should have driven off. But at that moment, she decides not to let her past destroy her future.
The scene cuts to four years earlier. Luisa is in therapy due to her cheating ex, Milene. The affair began while they were on vacation, and she keeps justifying Milene's actions. The therapist advises her to give herself the same grace and tells her to break out of the cycle. After the session, an overwhelmed Luisa starts crying when her car won't open. It's parked right in front of the clinic, and Javier offers to introduce her to Paula who is handy with such things. Present-day Luisa wishes she could have run away instead of letting Javier help her. She states that one can obsess over details but it is always the least assuming one that leads to a disaster.
