It is this knowledge that prompts Fiona to spurn Constance's offer to purchase the land in the Hollows.

The Abandons – Season 1 Episode 6 1

Within the confines of the house, Roache dashes in response to Constance's piercing scream of frustration. Her advances lead to a sordid encounter that dawns with a new day. When Elias inquires about the deal the next morning, Fiona dances around the truth, promising a collective update at the market.

Back at Constance's domain, Jack relays a message from Red Bird: he no longer requires the firearms and is poised to meet with the cavalry to broker a peace treaty. Constance is unyielding in her resolve, unfazed by this sudden turn of events. She craves her due retribution and unfurls her scheme to launch an assault on the Hollows, crafting it as a false flag operation attributed to the Cayuse rebels.

As a Cayuse himself, Jack is vehemently opposed to Constance's plan to tarnish his people's name. In a fit of disillusionment, Constance dismisses him from her ranks. With Jack's departure, Constance leans heavily on Roache to execute her diabolical plot, a development eagerly embraced by the latter.

Meanwhile, Garret wavers in his faith that he can earn his mother's trust. He is stunned by the news of Jack's dismissal and becomes even more apprehensive when he learns of her schemes. As he exits Constance's office, Jack collides with Trisha, who gleefully welcomes the deal but is perplexed by Elias's deception. She resolves to confront him head-on.

Garret tracks down Jack and implores him to reconsider his departure. Though he declines, he agrees to enlighten Garret on Constance's nefarious plans. Together, they follow Roache as they spot him meeting with a cavalry soldier, their mission driven by a desire to uncover Constance's machinations before it's too late.

As Albert stumbles upon Lucinda at the market, he seizes the opportunity to extend an invitation to a picnic, his smile radiant with anticipation. Meanwhile, Trisha catches up with Elias, her eyes blazing with indignation. She confronts him for his deceit, accusing him of manipulating her into a fleeting moment of intimacy. Elias is caught off guard by the sudden assault, and before he can muster a defense, Fiona calls for a gathering, revealing the reason behind her rejection of Constance's offer.

The others are taken aback by her defiance of their collective decision, and the argument escalates into a physical altercation between Elias and Fiona. Paxton steps in to break the tension, but not before Fiona is pushed to the brink. She spills the beans about staging the soldier's body and the murder of Father Duffy, her voice unapologetic and resolute.

In the forest, Roache dispatches two men to execute Red Bird at the meeting. Garret and Jack intervene, but in the chaos, one Cayuse rebel pays the ultimate price. Jack dispatches one bandit but allows the other to slip away. The cavalry soldiers recognize the fugitive and issue a bounty on Dupar's head.

Upon learning of the events, Roache reports back to Constance, who orders him to wait a day before reaching out to Red Bird. She promises to deal with Jack while Roache tracks down and eliminates Dupar before the cavalry can get their hands on him.

As Jack prepares to depart, he warns Garret of the upheaval his mother is about to unleash. He implores Garret for help before it's too late. Once Jack is gone, the investigator Garret hired to dig into Miles's past returns with a file that exposes a startling revelation: Miles is not who he seems to be. He is Adam Winston, a former special marshal turned rogue.

Even after two decades of seclusion, he remains a man on the run. Garret calculates that his captors will coerce him into selling his land, thereby forcing the others to follow suit. Constance is impressed by his cunning.

Suddenly, Dupar appears at the cabin, a gun in hand, and threatens to end Garret's life if he doesn't procure resources for a southern escape. Garret tries to fend off the attack, but Dupar proves to be overwhelmingly stronger. Thankfully, Roache overhears the commotion and shoots Dupar from behind.

The maid overhears the exchange and inquires about Dupar's ramblings. To safeguard their family, Garret orders Roache to eliminate the maid as well, planning to lie to the sheriff that Dupar killed the maid before Roache's rescue. His devious scheme earns him Constance's trust.

Throughout this ordeal, Trisha watches in shock from her window, every action unfolding before her.

Meanwhile, at the Abandons, Fiona and Elias reconcile and apologize to each other. They arrive at the barn to find Jack waiting for them. He warns them that Constance is brewing a war and they should brace themselves.

The episode concludes with Fiona ordering her children to awaken the others, readying them for whatever comes next.
