Piecing it together, he realizes it forms a pattern, one that is rapidly approaching its climactic conclusion. The precise locations of the sacrifices align strategically with the points of a pentagram.

A flashback transports us nine years into the past, where Midge, brimming with excitement, embarks on her promising career as a pastry chef. Her culinary talents were finally earning her the recognition she so richly deserved, until a devastating diagnosis struck her son with cancer. Denied coverage by her insurance, Midge was compelled to liquidate her possessions to fund his treatment. Despite her heroic efforts, it proved insufficient, ultimately pushing her towards the alluring yet perilous Pot O'Gold trap. Desperation led her to barter her soul to the devil in exchange for her son's life, binding her to a grim existence as a recruiter and soul collector.

Presently, Hub arrives uninvited at Midge's residence, prompting her to brandish a weapon and attempt to expel him from her premises. Despite her threats, Hub persists, eager to share his newly discovered insight about the sacrifices. He believes they may uncover a loophole, a sliver of hope that could liberate them from their infernal pacts.

Midge reveals to him that she once attempted [to find a solution], yet her son's cancer relapsed, plunging her into a desperate sense of hopelessness. As Hub prepares to depart, he leaves behind the documents he uncovered regarding the ritual sacrifices. His mother's phone call interrupts, urging him that time is swiftly running out; he must locate a formidable demon named Slypharis, rumored to dwell in Landry.

Upon his arrival in Landry, however, Slypharis seems to have vanished into thin air. Undeterred, Hub devises a clever trap on the far side of the serene lake, banking on the demon's potential crossing over the bridge. He spends the majority of the night in stealthy surveillance near the bridge, every sense on high alert.

Shortly thereafter, two demons emerge, their sinister forms dragging an unconscious woman between them. Hub, positioned in his car, opens fire without hesitation. Yet, before he can eliminate the malevolent creatures, Lucky unexpectedly arrives, his truck colliding with Hub's vehicle in a thunderous crash. Though Hub manages to extricate himself from the wreckage unscathed, his escape from Lucky's clutches remains elusive.
