The seventh episode of The Boys Season 5 unfolds at Vought Studios, where Oh-Father's overbearing presence looms large as he prepares for Homelander's ascension. Homelander, in his divine guise, demands the impossible, such as the disbanding of Congress. Back Ashley, under his command, reads the hesitant mind of President Calhoun and ultimately kills him for his doubts in Homelander's deity.

The Boys – Season 5 Episode 7 1

MM and Annie, seemingly jaded and resigned to their fate, meet with Jordan Li and Marie Moureau. Emma has been tracking Oh-Father's movements, and they share her findings. Marie and Jordan are eager to be more active, but Annie's words of caution remind them that the fight is over. Lobotomized Sage, plagued by an existential crisis, offers little assistance.

Butcher, Frenchie, and Kimiko are experimenting with uranium, hoping that Kimiko can harness Soldier Boy's power blast to strip Homelander of his divine might. Hughie, weary of the struggle, is on the verge of giving up until Butcher gives him a peculiar pep talk.

Homelander abolishes the Seven and drops Deep, unconcerned about the latter's sacrifices. Deep, in a state of despair, gets drunk and litters the ocean until Xander, the hammerhead shark, appears. For the Alaskan oil spill, Deep will be killed if he ever steps into water again.

The experiments on Kimiko are backfiring, and Frenchie begs Sage for help. However, Sage is caught in a self-hatred spiral, feeling useless for his inability to understand love, which makes people unpredictable.

Hughie, MM, Annie, and Butcher decide to kidnap Oh-Father from Vought Studios to learn Homelander's next move. MM and Annie watch as an actor laments the cancellation of his show and its AI-written finale that grossly mischaracterizes Annie. She wonders why she even tries.

In this tense and emotionally charged episode, each character grapples with their own demons and the relentless march of Homelander's tyranny. The stakes are high, and the future uncertain as the heroes struggle to find a way to defeat their unbeatable foe.

The studio is teeming with psychics, and one of them, Synapse, subdues Hughie and Butcher, disabling Butcher's powers. As the new president, Ashley has the authority to unleash the country's military against Homelander, but she refuses. Disillusioned by her ambitions and cowardice, Back Ashley refuses to speak with her. Fortunately for MM and Annie, they quickly get high, so the psychics cannot read their minds. They sneak into a screen test for a commercial where Jesus passes the baton to Homelander. As expected, most of the audience lies about their thoughts. Only six are genuine believers and are let go.

Homelander tries to keep Soldier Boy content, but the latter wishes to leave. Homelander's confusion turns to anger as Soldier Boy reminds him that he doesn't accept Homelander as a god and only helped him for Clara's sake. Homelander knocks him out and says he loves him.

Hughie and Butcher are tied up in an empty office. Butcher again gives a bizarre pep talk about how they will finish this no matter what, and this time, Hughie feels hopeful. The experiments are getting worse, and Frenchie is terrified for Kimiko, who has a seizure. He loves her so much that he realizes he wants the same peaceful life with her. Frenchie tries to persuade Sage again, explaining that it's good to still have some mysteries like love. He asks if she has experienced love, and she recalls her Grandma, the only one who was proud of her. Sage finally agrees to help with the experiments.

Back in the theater, an upset Annie believes that if everyone is naive like the audience, they shouldn't try to save them. However, MM explains that they are the type of people who want to save others. He reveals that he got his nickname, Mother's Milk, because he was bullied for saving a bird. But he didn't mind it as he made his family proud by saving someone. We see that Homelander has Soldier Boy in the cryotank again. He orders the deaths of the 24 non-believers, and Oh-Father unleashes Dogknott and Sheline on the audience. Annie and MM step in and save them. They take the audience to Marie and ask for her help.

Meanwhile, Deep's manager insists on maintaining his brand as a water-based supe. But when someone drowns, he runs off instead of trying to help. Elsewhere, Synapse takes on Joe Kessler's face and tells Hughie how Butcher got his unit killed in trying to finish his mission. It turns out this was a distraction for Synapse to learn about Kimiko's experiments and Sage's location for Homelander.

Hughie is shaken to the core, but he manages to distract the psychic by focusing on the memory of how Synapse took the life of his little brother. Butcher, regaining his powers, triumphantly vanquishes Synapse. They try to call and warn Frenchie, but his phone is broken from when Kimiko suffered a seizure. Sage's experiment leaves Kimiko too weak. Unfortunately, this is when Homelander arrives, having received Synapse's intel. Sage and Kimiko hide behind a zinc wall, but it's too late for Frenchie. As Homelander prepares to inspect the zinc wall, Frenchie uses his last breath to distract him. Frenchie provokes him and activates the Uranium. It barely wounds Homelander, but it takes its toll on Frenchie. Believing it to be a dead-end, Homelander departs. Kimiko rushes out and finds Frenchie, heavily bleeding and perhaps also from Homelander's assault. She holds him as he slips away, her heart breaking as she watches him die.
