The episode begins with Mickey surprised to see Maggie stepping in as co-counsel. Judge Stone describes this as "unusual" for a career prosecutor to appear in the middle of a case. To wrap his head around this, Mickey asks to step outside the courtroom with Maggie. She explains to him that Lorna is overwhelmed and that he needs help.

Back in the courtroom, Dana presents a superseding indictment, with a new charge where Mickey is accused of first-degree murder with a special circumstance for financial gain. However, Mickey pleads not guilty. Dana requests the court to readjust Mickey's bail, stating that the new charge for first-degree murder denies it.
Maggie argues that revoking Mickey's bail would put him in danger. The situation escalates, and Judge Stone scolds both lawyers. Judge Stone is forced to give Dana a few hours to bring Drucker back to court to testify to the new evidence.
In the office, Izzy introduces Grace to Lorna, who has been her helping hand. From Mickey's arrest footage, they spot someone wearing a mask and riding on a scooter, filming the arrest. Before Lorna rushes out to handle Bamba's case, Siegel shows up to check on Mickey. Lorna offers to take him out for a pastrami sandwich if he blesses her with legal wisdom for a challenging case.
Meanwhile, Cisco revisits the boat during the day to report the tagging he personally did the previous night to keep an eye on Jeanine. Jeanine arrives at the dock and angrily yells at the attendant. She drives off, and Cisco follows her.
In the office, Izzy and Grace receive a response from the person who recorded Mickey's arrest. The footage shows an officer tossing something back in his car before arresting Mickey. It could be a burner phone. They contact the person who posted the video and set up a meeting.
Grace and Izzy meet April, known as the Demon Fox, who expects payment. They tell her this is a high-profile case and could appear on TV. Upon hearing this, she agrees to share the video.
Elsewhere, Cisco sneaks into Jeanine's hotel and bribes a waiter to confirm if Gazarian has been staying with her there. During the lunch break, Cisco calls Mickey to inform him that he has located Gazarian and is closely monitoring him. Immediately after that call, Cisco gets attacked by a pair of armed men. Back in the courtroom, Detective Drucker is questioned by Dana about what he found when his team seized Mickey's office. He points out that they found a letter Mickey had sent to Sam Scales requesting to be paid his legal fees. Dana manipulates the words used in the letter to sound like Mickey could do anything to get paid. She mentions that the "further action" in the letter was a direct threat.
Mickey clarifies that the letter was a standard one sent to delinquent clients, and he did not write it. Maggie questions Drucker, who admits that there was no proof that Mickey wrote the letter or that Sam received it. This pokes holes in the letter's relevance. In the meantime, Lorna takes over Bamba's case and goes to see him in jail. Bamba explains to Lorna that he has no intention of posing with former gang members or wearing colours, which violates his probation. He had a gun, though, but it was for protecting Mickey. Lorna notes that he's getting rid of his gang tattoos. She goes to court and argues, and luckily, she gets Bamba's sentence reduced from three years to 16 months. This is in part due to all of Siegel's help. She calls to thank him for his help.
Back in court, the judge gives Mickey the option to either return to remand for a speedy trial or continue on bail while waiving his right to a speedy trial. Mickey asks for a few minutes to weigh his options, and the court takes a break. Mickey and Maggie meet Hayley, who is excited that now her parents are on the same side. Unfortunately, as Lorna returns to the courthouse, she gets a call from someone she assumed was Siegel. Meanwhile, Mickey is inclined to a speedy trial to put all of this behind him. Lorna informs him that Siegel has died from a heart attack. The news is devastating for Mickey, and he seems to reconsider his decision. If he forfeits a speedy trial, he can attend Siegel's funeral. However, he shocks Maggie and Lorna when he chooses to surrender himself to jail for a speedy trial.
