The second episode of The Manny season 3 commences with Violetta's shocking revelation that Gabriel is Emma's father, causing a ripple effect throughout the family - particularly for Jimena. The next day, Brenda calls with the news that her case has been dismissed, and their lawyer, Mauricio, will visit the following day with the necessary paperwork for her to sign. Jimena confides in Brenda about her feelings towards Emma and contemplates leaving the ranch. Brenda advises her to stop overthinking her relationship with Gabriel and asks her to return. However, on her way to work, she sees a large billboard disparaging Jimena, labeling her a fraud. She takes a picture and sends it to her.
At the ranch, Romina and Gabriel gift Emma some family heirlooms, and Violeta is relieved to see Gabriel happy about being a dad and raising Emma together. Meanwhile, Sofia struggles to adjust at Joaquin's house, causing Leo to miss her while Jimena confesses to Gabriel that she is torn between staying or leaving. Gabriel remains supportive, assuring her that the billboard and Emma don't change anything.
On her way to school, Sofia worries that her father is becoming overly concerned. At school, Curly and the others are barely excited to see her, pushing her away as she starts to feel left out. Curly even refuses to let her join the graduation committee.
Back at the ranch, Jimena meets with Mauricio to sign the documents and discuss the new project with the townswomen. Unfortunately, none of the women showed up for the meeting, having received news about the billboard and thinking she is untrustworthy. Mauricio tries to encourage her not to give up, but Jimena takes it as a sign that she needs to leave.
Following the meeting, Jimena's encounter with Violeta is fraught with tension as the latter makes it crystal clear that her heart still yearns for Gabriel. Meanwhile, Santi and Mariana's budding romance heats up, but her request for a low-key, secretive affair is met with a rejection from him due to his inability to ride a horse. Leo, on the other hand, embarks on a family tree project, which only adds to his confusion when Jimena and Gabriel give him differing accounts about Emma. Later, Jimena enlightens him that he has the ultimate say in choosing his family, leaving him even more perplexed.
Frustrated over his horse-riding struggles, Santi seeks Gabriel's assistance. At school, Sofia tries to conjure up a plan to regain her spot on the graduation committee by framing Curly as a thief, but her scheme backfires, leading to a fiery verbal altercation between them. Curly accuses Sofia of deceitful behavior, mirroring her mother's actions. Joaquin picks her up later and asks her to babysit Aurora.
At a political event in town, Gabriel introduces Emma to his father, Don Julio, who exudes pride. Jimena feels a twinge of jealousy as Don Julio basks in the limelight. A suggestion for a family photo arises, but Jimena and Leo are asked to step aside. At the same event, Jimena reunites with Melissa, who invites her to appear on the news show to clear her name. However, Jimena declines promptly.
Gabriel tries to woo the townswomen but is rebuffed due to their disdain for Jimena. Frustrated, Jimena vents to Brenda over the phone about her predicament at the event. Later, she runs into Mauricio, who urges her to return to Guadalajara when she's ready.
Joaquin calls Jimena to brief her on Sofia's confrontation with Curly at school, which only amplifies her frustration. Gabriel encourages her to follow her heart and do what she believes is right. Santi returns home, elated to finally learn how to ride a horse and spend time with Mariana and his friends. However, his elation is short-lived when Jimena announces their departure for Guadalajara the next morning. He pleads with his mom to let him stay back at the ranch, and Jimena relents but insists on frequent calls.
As she helps Leo pack the next morning, Jimena is heartbroken to see Gabriel included in Leo's family tree. She says a tearful goodbye to Santi and Gabriel, boarding the car for Guadalajara with Leo, her heart heavy with unanswered questions and emotions.
