Episode 9 of The Night Agent Season 3 begins with a flashback to 20 months ago, when Monroe offered to contribute $6 million to Monroe's campaign. At the time, Hagan was lagging behind in every poll, and his chances of becoming the next president were slim. Jenny, of course, made this deal without Hagan's knowledge. Monroe suggested using her charity organization to ensure a sort of mutual destruction if the truth was ever revealed.

Meanwhile, Peter arrives at Monroe's house, where Adam lies about what happened. He claims that he made a deal with Monroe to help him find Peter, but then Monroe went rogue and shot himself when he opened the safe. He insists that Peter make the next call, so they call it in. Peter leaves to check on Isabel and inform her of her dad's passing.
At Peter's house, Chelsea shows up looking to team up and gain more information on Corepoint. Isabel lets her inside once she mentions the name. They each bring each other up to date on their different investigations. They quickly realize that they are looking into the same thing—everything leads to Monroe, but Isabel can't decrypt the laptop.
At the White House, Hagan meets with the military commanders to discuss a possible strike on the three locations Hutson gave them. However, Hagan insists on waiting for confirmation of suspicious activity at the locations before striking—a move which his wife and the military commanders don't like.
Hagan starts acting passive-aggressively towards Jenny, so she confronts him. They both agree they have been keeping secrets. Jenny reminds him that she was trying to keep his hands clean and protect his legacy. Although displeased by how things turned out, Hagan agrees that it would be better for them to continue working as a team.
Peter arrives to find Chelsea and Isabel waiting. Isabel is heartbroken to hear about her dad's death. However, she questions Adam's version of what happened. Chelsea chimes in and reports Adam's close friendship with the president. Not knowing what to believe, they agree to wait and see how things play out with Adam.
Peter receives a message that Jay has checked out of the hospital despite medical orders, so he quickly prepares to pick him up. Chelsea and Isabel insist on accompanying him. Back at the White House, Hagan and Jenny work seamlessly as a team to stay ahead of the narrative. Hagan subtly pressures Patterson to drop the Brian Mott investigation with veiled threats and false praise. Jenny employs the same tactics with Renee, the White House Press Secretary, convincing her to break protocol and release a damning story on Chelsea's involvement in Brian's death.
At the hospital, Jay informs Peter that there have been recent activities in the LFS crypto wallet. He shows him that the last activity was a Bitcoin ATM withdrawal from a pharmacy in Salem, New Jersey. Meanwhile, Chelsea checks in on Isabel, who has mixed feelings about her father. She acknowledges that he was evil but still feels sad about their final moments together.
Peter interrupts and reports that he's following the new lead Jay found. He believes Zapata is using the Albertelli Maritime Shipping company near the pharmacy to smuggle in weapons for the second attack. Just then, he gets a call that Adam has been cleared for duty. Isabel and Jay decide to team up and work on decrypting the cloud drive. Peter and Chelsea leave for New Jersey, with Isabel reminding them to be careful with Adam.
Meanwhile, Theo discovers the article Renee is working on and confronts her. She tells him to either step in line or step aside. He calls Chelsea, but she ignores his calls. Adam arrives at the pharmacy to join Peter and recognizes Chelsea. The three of them obtain footage and decide to head to the port to see if they can get positive identification.
At the Financial Register, Jay and Isabel try multiple codes using clues from the book to decrypt the cloud drive. After numerous attempts, they finally figure it out. At the port, Peter and his team spot the terrorists getting ready to load bombs onto their trucks and leave. They work together to stop the trucks from leaving, leading to a series of gunfights, car chases, and even underwater fistfights. Peter eventually drives one of the trucks into the water after one of the terrorists triggers the bomb on the truck.
Afterwards, Isabel calls Peter and informs him that the cloud drive is a treasure trove of information. The trail for Corepoint Dynamics all leads to Hagan and his wife through Freya and Walcott Capital. Isabel mentions that Peter is also involved, but that's a problem for another day. He asks her to trust him and make copies of everything.
Simultaneously, the FBI team detains Peter under the pretext that he needs to debrief them. At the White House, they use cell phone triangulation to pinpoint Zapata’s location. Hagan gives the green light, and they watch the airstrike unfold on their screens. It is later confirmed that Zapata died in the airstrike. Adam, in a moment of vulnerability, lets it slip that Chelsea is with him in New York. As expected, Hagan asks for another favor.
Adam convinces Chelsea to leave with him to check on Isabel and Jay. On their way, Chelsea receives a call from Theo. This time, she picks up, and he informs her about the plan to tarnish her reputation publicly. She tries to act calm and continues her casual conversation with Adam. However, she notices that Adam missed their exit sign and quietly sends her location to Peter. Thankfully, Peter sneaks out and rushes to get to Chelsea just in time. He gets a call from Hagan, who tries to paint Chelsea as unstable following the Brain incident. Peter, however, tells him to screw himself and refuses to stand down.
The episode ends with Hagan holding a press conference and announcing the death of Zapata and the thwarted second LFS attack. He promises to keep the country safe, but his words ring hollow in the face of the betrayal and deceit that have been exposed throughout the episode.
