The Power – Season 1 Episode 5 1

A poignant flashback revealed Tatiana and Zoia's childhood. Tatiana underwent rigorous training for the Olympics, enduring immense hardships. One fateful day during her training, a finance minister, who later became her husband, invited her out on a date. She was unable to refuse his advances.

In the present, President Moskalev summoned a group of scientists to his home to examine a skein extracted from one of the slain girls. Tatiana attended the investigation, learning that three deaths had resulted from the removal of this mysterious organ from the girls' bodies.

Meanwhile, Margot was adapting to her new role as the face of a growing movement. Tunde interviewed her, but when the conversation turned to the controversial topic of Governor Danden's attempts to control women's bodies, Helen abruptly ended the interview.

Since going public, Margot had been receiving threats. An anonymous streamer named Urban Dox rallied men to embrace their role as "apex predators," and Margot had become one of his prime targets. Rob, horrified, caught their own son watching his inflammatory videos.

Then, Rob received news of Carpathia's research on the new organ. Anna wanted him to work on a sensitive project that aimed to create a medical suppressant for women and girls who wished to suppress their powers. However, the research had been obtained unethically, through surgeries performed on girls without their consent.

Rob informed Margot about the research, but she already knew. He was concerned that she wasn't taking the situation seriously enough. While Rob was horrified by the girls' deaths, Margot believed that their sacrifice could have meaning if the research was used for a noble purpose. However, Rob doubted the government's intentions, fearing that they only saw the research as a tool for oppression. Therefore, he contacted his old friend Declan and informed him about the confidential documents and the government's plans to use the research to suppress OED.

Later, he attends a festive gathering with Margot, where the festivities soon spiral out of control as he succumbs to the lure of alcohol. In a drunken stupor, Danden levels an accusation at Margot, accusing her of harboring EOD. As the party winds down, Declan, in a fit of recklessness, reveals the confidential research to everyone present, crediting his anonymous informant as "The Scarlet Minnow." Margot immediately recognizes the moniker as belonging to Rob, and her heart fills with dread, fearing that Declan might betray him.

Once back home, Rob lashes out, blaming Margot for his current predicament. He laments that she has never taken the time to inquire about his daily life, not even in recent years. He accuses her of being solely focused on her career, neglecting their children in a state of autopilot. Despite her belief that EOD can only empower women, she fails to see the struggle Jos faces in controlling her own body.

As the night deepens, Margot checks on Jos while Rob sleeps. She offers a heartfelt apology for not being present for her daughter as she should have been. The mother and daughter step outside, sharing a joint of marijuana, and Margot broaches the subject of Jos's recent decision to go public with information about EOD.

Jos confides in Margot, revealing that she is still trapped in the mindset of her youth, believing that girls need more protection nowadays. But she also recognizes that true power lies in being able to live without constant fear. Margot asks Jos to share her power with her, and when Jos sends an electrical jolt through her, Margot finally understands what her daughter meant. The sensation is indescribable, leaving her breathless.

Meanwhile, in Carpathia, Tatiana strives unsuccessfully to acquire the power from another girl. Flashbacks reveal her engagement to Viktor, who discouraged her Olympic dreams, fearing her distractions as his wife. Angered by her mother's refusal to assist her, Tatiana packed her belongings and left her mother and sister behind.

Now, Tatiana discovers that her sole female assistant possesses EOD and forces her to relinquish the power. Simultaneously, Zoia and the other imprisoned women enact their plan to acquire the power. The deaf girl who brings them their meals transfers her abilities to them, and they embark on their own uprising, inspired by the women of Saudi Arabia.
