The Resurrected – Season 1 Episode 3 1

Hsin-yi finds herself trapped in a compound, alongside hundreds of other young women, all held captive by Shih-kai. Forced to deceive their own mothers about the nature of their employment, Hsin-yi and Jin Jin endure a living nightmare. One day, Ching calls her daughter, seeking reassurance about Hsin-yi and Jin Jin's well-being. Her maternal instincts kick in when she picks up on an odd reference from Hsin-yi about her late father.

Within the grim confines of the compound, Hsin-yi is compelled to participate in the fraudulent phone calls, while the girls there are subjected to starvation until they achieve a daily financial quota, a cruel target imposed by Shih-kai. Amidst this despair, Hsin-yi's roommate, Mei-juan, finally manages to meet her quota, earning her a ticket out of the hellish complex. Before departing, she urges Hsin-yi to focus on reaching her own quota, so she too can escape.

Taking Mei-juan's advice to heart, Hsin-yi resorts to calling acquaintances in an attempt to swindle them. Shih-kai, observing Hsin-yi's growing proficiency in the art of deception, takes note. Meanwhile, Jin Jin finds herself working as an influencer for Shih-kai's company, yet remains emotionally distant from her childhood friend, Hsin-yi.

One fateful day, Hsin-yi makes a gruesome discovery: Mei-juan's lifeless body, among a pile of other young women's corpses. The shocking sight dawns on her the horrifying truth—there is no escape from this complex except through death.

The episode shifts to the present day in 2024, where Ching and Hui-chun find themselves in a convenience store, mercilessly torturing Shih-kai. Driven by vengeance, they meticulously follow the autopsy report on Hsin-yi and the medical report on Jin Jin, determined to make the man who inflicted such unbearable suffering on their daughters pay dearly.

Their rage, however, spirals out of control, leading them to inadvertently kill Shih-kai once more. In a desperate attempt to rectify their mistake, they perform CPR and are stunned to find that Shih-kai still has a faint heartbeat. Panic-stricken, they call an ambulance and rush him to the hospital, their minds consumed with fear of being discovered.

Yet, as they speed toward the hospital, Shih-kai unexpectedly regains consciousness and flees. Hui-chun and Ching, fueled by a mix of fear and fury, give chase. After a harrowing pursuit involving the police and the two determined women, Shih-kai manages to find refuge in a deserted alley.

Ching, relentless in her pursuit, locates him and launches another attack. Shih-kai, fighting for his life, attempts to overpower Ching, but Hui-chun arrives just in time, injecting him with a dose of morphine. The women then drag Shih-kai back to the convenience store, where they bind him once again.

Shih-kai, bewildered and desperate, pleads for an explanation. Hui-chun receives a call from the hospital, where the doctor delivers grim news: Jin Jin's heart is failing. Though treatment is underway, the doctor suggests that Hui-chun has the option to discontinue it, as Jin Jin is enduring immense suffering.

Eason, moved by Hui-chun's plight, tries to offer support as she struggles to cover Jin Jin's escalating medical expenses. Despite the overwhelming odds, Hui-chun refuses to abandon hope, insisting to Ching that she is not ready to let go of her child. Ching, ever the pragmatist, reminds Hui-chun that she is still better off than many who endure unimaginable hardships without a shred of hope.

The following morning, a glimmer of hope emerges when Jin Jin unexpectedly grasps her mother's hand, filling Hui-chun with renewed optimism about her daughter's recovery. Seizing the moment, the women confront Shih-kai once again, demanding a staggering 40 million dollars in exchange for his life.

Hui-chun gives Shih-kai a stark ultimatum: secure the funds within seven days, and he will be granted a new identity to start afresh. Shih-kai, desperate and with no other recourse, reluctantly agrees as the episode draws to a close, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats.
