Episode 4 of *The Resurrected* opens with a poignant flashback to 2019, where Shih-kai, having been exposed for his fraudulent schemes, is dispatched from Taiwan to Taipei. His mother, Mrs. Chung, meets the news with an air of indifference, reassuring him that all will be resolved smoothly.
Meanwhile, Shih-kai is seen drowning his sorrows in celebration with his companions and sister, Christina. The atmosphere is abruptly shattered when Ching arrives, sparking a chaotic altercation. She launches herself at Christina, who retaliates with equal fervor. The clash culminates in the arrest of both women, but Mrs. Chung, leveraging her influence and affluence, swiftly secures Christina's release. Outside the police station, I-chen and Hui-chun linger, awaiting Ching's liberation.
Addressing Hui-chun, Mrs. Chung declares that Shih-kai will face the consequences if found culpable, urging the women to release their animosity toward his innocent family members. Ching, however, remains confined for another 24 hours.
The narrative then leaps forward to the present day, 2024. Mrs. Chung is seen engaging with prospective investors at the prayer home and Tai Chi Charity she co-manages with an elderly gentleman. The investors express concerns over her alleged involvement in Shih-kai's deceitful endeavors, a charge she staunchly refutes.
Unbeknownst to Mrs. Chung, Hui-chun shadows her every move. Shih-kai, desperate, attempts to contact his mother for financial assistance, but his calls go unanswered, dismissed as potential scams. Seizing the opportunity, Hui-chun and Ching conspire to record a video of Shih-kai, demanding ransom from his mother in exchange for his release.
Elsewhere, Mrs. Chung admonishes Christina to curb her extravagant spending, as the police maintain a watchful eye. Christina finds herself humiliated among her peers, unable to indulge in a shopping spree due to her depleted funds.
At the same moment, Hui-chun keeps a close watch on Mrs. Chung and discovers that she has pledged a staggering $1 million to the Tai Chi Charity as an act of penance for her son Shih-kai’s misdeeds. Hui-chun finds it hard to take Mrs. Chung at her word, especially since the woman is donating all her public assets to the charity. Suspicion creeps into Hui-chun’s mind—could Mrs. Chung be using the charity as a front for a money-laundering operation?
Meanwhile, Ching barges into the restaurant where Christina is dining with her friends and reveals Christina's true identity as Shih-kai’s sister, causing her immense embarrassment. In a fit of anger, Ching throws Christina into the pool. Just then, Eason appears out of nowhere and rescues her. He then invites Christina to his room to change into dry clothes.
Christina is deeply impressed by Eason, who not only saves her but also covers her bills. Determined to reconnect with him once her clothes have dried, she approaches the receptionist, only to be met with a refusal to divulge any information about Eason.
On the other side of things, Ching and Hui-chun are trying to piece together the puzzle of Shih-kai’s assets, suspecting that his mother may not have access to the funds. Shih-kai, desperate for his freedom, urges the women to film another video to send to his mother, hoping to coax her into paying the $40 million ransom.
The next day, Hui-chun arrives at the prayer center and brings up Shih-kai’s name, recounting the immense harm he caused to Jin Jin and Hsin-yi. The pastor urges Hui-chun to forgive Shih-kai and release her burdens. However, Hui-chun creates a scene, pleading with the prayer home to accept her and her grievances.
Meanwhile, as planned, Christina shows up at the hotel to meet Eason. Ching has enlisted Eason’s help to trap Christina and make her fall for him. Eason, playing his part, flirts with Christina and takes her to meet his grandmother at the same hospital where Jin Jin is recovering.
Seizing the opportunity, Eason spins an elaborate tale about his wealthy family, which captivates Christina. Back at their hideout, Ching and Hui-chun work to convince Shih-kai that his mother doesn’t want him alive and is refusing to pay for his release. Overwhelmed with emotion, Shih-kai reveals that he has amassed a significant fortune in cryptocurrency and Bitcoin.
In a dramatic twist, Ching and Hui-chun finally disclose to Shih-kai that his mother never actually saw the ransom video. The women explain that they treated him the way he had treated Hsin-yi, aiming to make him feel the sting of being unloved and abandoned.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Chung is consumed with a gnawing worry that Shih-kai has returned, not as a mere mortal, but as a vengeful ghost. Desperate and driven by greed, Ching and Hui-chun turn to I-chen, pleading and then pressuring her to assist them in extracting the ransom money from the supposedly resurrected Shih-kai.
I-chen, with a firm sense of morality and a clear understanding of the legal and ethical implications, steadfastly refuses to be drawn into their nefarious schemes. However, Ching, undeterred and increasingly ruthless, resorts to threats, leaving I-chen with little choice but to comply.
In a scene fraught with tension and foreboding, I-chen is forced to make the harrowing journey to meet Ching and Hui-chun, accompanied by her young daughter, An-chi, who herself bears the scars of being one of Shih-kai’s previous victims. As the curtain falls on this episode, the atmosphere is thick with suspense and the promise of further turmoil to come.
