However, the tranquility of the sanctuary is marred by the discord brewing within its walls. Lambert, still grappling with the grief of Eskel's demise, finds solace in anger and resentment. Meanwhile, Yesemir, determined to uncover the mystery surrounding Eskel's fate, persists in his autopsy, searching for the root of the infection. Yet, Geralt, cognizant of the need for peace, persuades Yesemir to let go.

Coen and Lambert, seeking to gauge Ciri's mettle, devise a rigorous obstacle course, filled with swinging pendulums and perilous drops. It doesn't take long for the young apprentice to be laid flat on her back, overwhelmed by the challenges.

Meanwhile, within the intricate political web, Tissaia gathers with other influential figures, pondering over the impending threat posed by Nilfgaard. Rumors of a potential alliance between the Empire and the Elves have sparked alarm, and Tissaia finds herself in a precarious position. Her interrogation of Cahir yields no fruitful insights, and Yennefer's unexpected return further complicates the situation. Although reunited, she is instructed to remain in the shadows while Tissaia strategizes to tilt the court in her favor.

On a different note, Triss Merigold, who has recovered from her ordeal, sits with Yennefer, reflecting on her scars and exploring new horizons. Little do they know that in the heart of Nilfgaard, where over 4000 elves have gathered, the seeds of discontent have been sown. Some among the human populace are not content with this newfound alliance, and Francesca, seemingly guided by divine forces, arrives with the sole purpose of finding Dol Blathanna.

Stregobor relentlessly persists in promoting his agenda, striving to convince the council that Yennefer poses a significant threat. Tissaia, realizing the gravity of the situation, proposes a daring plan: to kill Cahir as a means to prove her loyalty and dispel any suspicions of her being a spy. After all, her abrupt departure from Nilfgaard, having been associated with them for so long, does raise eyebrows.

That fateful night, in the presence of all, Yennefer grasps the axe, intending to execute Cahir. However, in a stunning turn of events, she betrays them all, severing Cahir's bonds and fleeing on horseback with him, leaving Tissaia and the others bewildered.

After numerous attempts, persevering through cuts, bruises, and sheer determination, Ciri finally manages to navigate the treacherous obstacle course at Kaer Morhen, albeit with a rough landing. She spits up blood and finds herself gazing at the feet of Geralt.

Back within the castle walls, Ciri shares with Geralt her visions and the overwhelming sensation of being inexorably drawn. As her visions intensify, Geralt decides to test her, leading her into the woods, convinced that she might possess a form of magical prowess, akin to her mother.

In the depths of the forest, they encounter Eskel's Leshey, mangled and ready for battle. While Geralt struggles to restrain the creature, Ciri flees. Unfortunately, the Leshey pursues her, ambushing Ciri and blocking her escape. Fortunately, Geralt arrives and swiftly dispatches the beast. But the question remains: Will Ciri master the skills necessary to aid in slaying such creatures in the future?
