In the opening of Episode 4 of Turn of the Tide Season 3, we are treated to a flashback that transports us to Rebelo, one of the locals, driving a drugs container to an unspecified location. He's paid handsomely for his services, but his girlfriend steals the money and disappears, leaving him devastated. Blaming the drug buyers, he makes a scene, only to be beaten up by Banha, who warns him to keep his mouth shut. As he leaves, Banha also takes Rebelo's plate featuring John F. Kennedy.

Meanwhile, Ian hacks into Cruz's laptop and asks Pedro to decipher the contents. There's a list of offshore companies involved in money laundering, one of which is Milhafre Solidario, known for its social work. Pedro agrees to find the head honcho in exchange for an exclusive interview with the Night Vigilantes.
Carlos is chosen as a singer for a TV show, and everyone celebrates at the shack. Rebelo, under the influence of alcohol, rambles about how a dirty cop took his JFK plate, a gift from his grandfather. Valentina scolds the boys for wasting their time instead of helping people and pushes Carlos to tell them about Dr Mamede, an addict who mistreats his patients. Eduardo thinks they have bigger fish to fry, but his friends call him out for picking and choosing what fits his agenda. They decide to go after the small fish - the day-to-day injustices. Soon, Valentina starts choosing their targets, including Mamede, Fagote (a corrupt fishery inspector), and Teles (a difficult tax official). Rafael wonders where justice ends and revenge begins.
Frias seems to be doing better as she helps Pedro follow the cash trail. He makes her laugh, and they seem hopeful. On the investigation front, Pedro directly questions Brum about her campaign being funded by Milhafre Solidario's nursing home residents. She panics and complains to Moniz, who calms her down with valium and drinks. We learn that they have been encouraging crime on the streets, forcing the locals to sell their houses for cheap. Moniz owns 80% of the island and plans to buy the remaining by the election, flatten it all, and create "progress."
Canhoto's father spends the raffle money on a new car, which upsets Rafael. However, the man warns Rafael not to project his broken dreams onto his son and to make ends meet instead of having Canhoto play football in Lisbon. Rafael feels hopeless. Silvia sees an ad for a housekeeper but learns that Mrs Lourdes, the only daycare nanny on the island, has sold her place and left.
Rafael's father, Mario, a resident at the nursing home, decides to engage him in a conversation about the campaign. It's evident that the residents aren't the financiers, and the nursing home is merely a front for money laundering. However, neither Mario nor Rafael is aware of this fact, leading to a confrontation between them. Mario resents that his son abandoned him for his football club, while Rafael retorts that he left because Mario was an absent father.
A flashback reveals that Rafael's mother urges Mario to pick up little Rafael after his soccer practice. It's flooding, and when they return, they see that a landslide has claimed their family.
At present, Mario claims they are the rotten ones and should have died instead. Upset, Rafael loses his sobriety, beats up Canhoto's deadbeat father, and cries out to God to take him. At home, Silvia sees the ring and pushes it away.
Eduardo and Bruna are hooking up in his car when she forgets her pepper spray as she brings him home. When Banha returns home, Eduardo sneaks out. He sees the JFK plate and grabs it. He then disguises himself and gives it to Rebelo, who in exchange reveals that he dropped the drug container at Milhafre Solidario's base.
Moniz tells Pedro that he is the honorary president of Milhafre Solidario. He claims that everything they do is legal and that Pedro should be investigating Night Vigilantes, who are murderers. Of course, Pedro is upset and writes about it for the newspaper. He meets with the Night Vigilantes who reveal their identities to gain his trust and insist that they are not killers. Regardless, he scolds them as citizen justice is not real justice. But they simply tell him to question Rebelo about the drugs he delivered to Milhafre Solidario.
Moniz's bodyguard threatens Ian to reveal the vigilantes' identities but he doesn't budge. Francisco finds a hidden camera in Cruz's living room.
The drunk couple show up at Eduardo's, asking to join the Night Vigilantes. They get off on killing people and think Eduardo is the same. As a gift, they plan to kill Badocha who is out on probation. Eduardo tries to stall, asking about their methods. They reveal that they have fine-tuned it since the hiccup with kidnapping a detective's daughter. Eduardo realizes they may have killed Mariana.
Pedro gifts shoes to Frias as she used to love running. She listens to Mariana's voicemail one last time and decides to move on. She is on a run when an apologetic Eduardo shows up. She realizes he has bad news about Mariana.
It cuts to Natercia, a drunk woman holding a wrench, finding Mariana in the bathroom, calling Frias. Mariana sees her face. Before the phone falls in the bathtub, Natercia says, "F**k this. Aren't you unlucky?"
