In the fifth episode, we see Mi-seon discovering Tae-poong and Jeong-mi napping in the office. With her compassionate heart, she invites them to her own home, where they settle into an empty room with a sense of relief.

Meanwhile, Mi-ho takes on a part-time job at a roulette wheel, entertaining the crowd. She and her colleague end up at Nam-mo's pub, where a couple of men attempt to grope her. Nam-mo springs into action, engaging in a fight and throwing them out.
The next day, Mi-seon sends a bank transfer from Typhoon Trading to Shoe Park. Later that day, she and Tae-poong encounter Bae Song-jung in the office, apparently here to use the computer.
The next day, Tae-poong is overjoyed to receive the shoes he bought, confident in his ability to sell them. However, when he goes to the shoe factory in Busan, he finds it empty. Finally, he discovers Park Yun-cheol hiding in a corner, beaten to a pulp. It turns out that he owes money to gangsters who have taken his shoes as collateral, and he has spent all of Tae-poong's down payment on paying part of his debts. The only thing Tae-poong can take is the patent certificates. Jung Cha-ran, who is with Tae-poong, sends Mi-seon the news.
Meanwhile, Jeong-mi waits for Tae-poong at Nam-mo's pub for their dinner date but he doesn't show up. She finds him waiting near the house, looking downhearted, and tells him to lean on her for support. Near the department store where Mi-ho works, Nam-mo meets her and tries to pay her back for making her lose her part-time job from earlier.
That night, Jung Cha-ran calls Tae-poong and informs him that the shoes are now in the hands of a loan shark. He's willing to sell 500 pairs for 5 million won. But they have no idea how to find that much money.
As Mi-seon and Oh-beom pay a visit to Mi-ho at the department store, they are both deeply moved by the latter's relentless dedication at just 21 years old. Meanwhile, Pyo Bak-ho's gaze falls upon the safety shoes with keen interest, instructing his son to make a trip to Busan. Back at the office, Mi-seon presents Tae-poong with the money her father left for her in the savings account passbook, along with a bit more from her own funds. Tae-poong hesitates to accept it, but she insists.
Tae-poong meets up with Cha-ran and they head to confront Ryu Hui-gyu, the loan shark. One of Hui-gyu's henchmen escorts Tae-poong to a storage room where he is shocked to witness Manager Ha and Pyo Hyun-jun collecting the remaining shoes. Following a trail of blood, Tae-poong also stumbles upon Park Yun-cheol in the warehouse.
After this shocking revelation, Tae-poong's anger boils over. When Hui-gyu informs him that Park Yun-cheol owes him 50 million won, Tae-poong boldly retorts that he can sell 7000 shoes for 100 million won. Hui-gyu seizes the opportunity and forces him to sign a contract that stipulates he will pay interest and forfeit both eyeballs if the terms are not met.
