As the ninth episode of "Typhoon Family" unfolds, Ma-jin finds himself being escorted away by the Thai police, a stark contrast to the moment he first held a dollar bill from his father, intended as a treat for Ma-yong. Now, while waiting in prison, he finds solace in conversation with a fellow Korean-speaking inmate named Somchai, unaware that his situation has taken a dramatic turn.

Back in Korea, Mi-ho presents Jeong-mi with some makeup products as a gift, while at Nam-mo's pub, he laments his mother's frequent absences. In Thailand, Tae-poong and Mi-seon learn that Ma-jin's bribe amount has been inflated to $10,000, leading to a full trial rather than the expected quick release. This news also brings further setbacks as the customs officers confiscate their helmets, destined for a trash heap in 48 hours.
Tae-poong's eye catches Somchai wearing Ma-jin's jacket, but the inmate pretends not to understand Korean. Later, Tae-poong and Mi-seon visit Ma-jin in prison, where he shows them a photograph of his family, with a message on the back for Mi-seon, outlining the basics of sales. Her joy at his acceptance speaks volumes.
In Korea, Nam-mo takes on a part-time job to supplement the struggling pub's income. Meanwhile, Eul-nyeo realizes she has been scammed and lost all her money. Tae-poong meets with the Nihakham Group chairman to apologize for the incident and makes an offer: they will take charge of the inventory, recalling them if they don't sell out within six months. However, the chairman's trust has been shattered, leaving Tae-poong and Mi-seon facing an uncertain future.
Before departing, Nicha entreats Tae-poong to reach out if he conceives of a more valuable commodity to sell. Mi-seon urges Tae-poong to wield his charm and coax Nicha into purchasing the helmets by flattering her. However, Tae-poong is offended by her presumption that he can bestow compliments on anyone.
Meanwhile, Hyun-jun receives a consignment of potential products from his aunt Kang Suk-ja, who resides in the US. However, none of the objects impress him enough for consideration. When Hyun-jun inquires of Manager Ha about his father's grudge against Typhoon Trading, the manager feigns ignorance.
In the evening, Mi-seon apologizes to Tae-poong for her earlier remarks and buys them both watermelon slushies. While confessing her yearning for her family, Mi-seon also admits to feeling liberated from her home's constraints. Tae-poong assures her that she remains a brilliant individual and is about to plant a kiss when she shyly pushes him away.
They discuss their theory that Ma-jin is taking the fall for someone else, most likely Somchai, who was wearing his jacket at the time of the incident. Mi-seon suddenly recalls taking a photograph of the event. They locate a studio to develop the photographs, but the owner informs them that the process will take three days. Desperate to expedite the process, Mi-seon offers 3,000 baht and even Tae-poong's watch to convince him to hurry.
Nam-mo fails to appear at the department store to meet Mi-ho as he usually does. Instead, he meets her on the way home and escorts her to her doorstep, but she senses something amiss. He confesses that he and his mother were forced to close the pub and sell their property. She hugs him and encourages him to share his sorrows with her.
By morning, the photographs are nearly ready. Tae-poong gathers the necessary documents and bail money, while Mi-seon fetches the photographs and runs all the way to court due to a lack of taxis. On her way, someone bumps into her, causing the photographs to fall into a nearby stream.
As Ma-jin's trial commences, Tae-poong proves to the judge that even their helmets didn't cost $10,000. Mi-seon arrives in time but reveals that the photographs were ruined and all she has is the film reel. The episode concludes with Tae-poong using a torch to project the photos onto a wall in a desperate attempt to salvage evidence for Ma-jin's defense.
