Episode 3 of "Unchosen" unfolds with Mr. Phillips and Adam engaged in a conversation with Sam. Rosie breathes a sigh of relief upon learning that Sam had lied to save her, yet she's troubled when she realizes he'll now be residing with Mr. Phillips. She enlists Adam's help for Sam, citing his heroic act of saving Grace's life. At this juncture, Hannah returns Rosie's Bible, which she had left behind during the rescue of Issac. Rosie is punished for aiding Issac's escape, and Adam sends Grace to live with Hannah, instructing Rosie to reflect on her actions in solitude. Hannah refuses to allow Rosie to speak with Grace as she leads her away.

One day, the school contacts Hannah to inform her that Grace is hiding under a table and refusing to emerge. Rosie accompanies Hannah to the school to calm Grace down. Later, Hannah asks Rosie to return home on her own while she tends to baby Noah. Outside, Issac approaches Rosie and begs her to deliver a letter to Anthony. Rosie refuses to assist him, but their interaction is captured on the school's CCTV cameras. Hannah later spots Issac outside and is disappointed in him for leaving her to care for their four children.
Hannah visits Mr. Phillips seeking financial assistance. In the meantime, Rosie holds baby Noah while speaking with Mrs. Phillips about her son, Matthew. She then leaves to speak with Sam, who is working in the Phillipses' backyard. Suddenly, Hannah rushes out in a state of shock, carrying the baby. When Rosie enters to retrieve Noah's scarf, she overhears Mr. and Mrs. Phillips arguing about Mr. Phillips's treatment of Hannah. Mrs. Phillips confronts him, but he becomes aggressive, prompting Rosie to intervene, resulting in her injury.
Mrs. Phillips covers Rosie's wound with makeup and requests her to keep the incident a secret. She blames Mr. Phillips's behavior on his drinking, while Mr. Phillips later speaks to Rosie privately and asks her not to tell Adam.
Utilizing this to her advantage, Rosie requests Mr. Phillips's help in starting a new life for Sam in the community. The next day, Mr. Phillips takes Sam to Adam's sawmill, where Adam offers him temporary employment. Adam attempts to question Sam about his background, but Sam shares partial truths and earns his sympathy.
With immediate effect, Adam comes across CCTV footage of Rosie conversing with Isaac, igniting a furious rage within him. He confronts Rosie at home about the interaction, leading to a violent confrontation that leaves her shaken after he sexually assaults her.
Simultaneously, Sam utilizes the phone at the mill to reach out to his brother, Mason. When Mason admits to being scared, Sam pledges to come and get him. Later, he discovers letters in the outhouse addressed to Mrs. Phillips.
At the same time, Adam and Rosie attend a fellowship service, where Rosie remains in shock from the earlier events. During the service, she confides in her mother, but is advised to disregard what happened. Adam delivers a sermon on love within families and formally welcomes Sam into the community.
Rosie quietly exits the church and heads to the mill to gather cash and her passport so she can escape with Grace. Sam meets her there and is stunned when he learns about Adam's actions. He promises to help her escape with Grace but asks her to wait until they accumulate enough money. Sam hands over the letters, and Rosie is shocked to discover that Mrs. Phillips is still in contact with her disavowed son, Matthew.
Adam is impressed with Sam's work and offers him a more permanent role. Sam employs Adam's favorite Bible verse, which Rosie had told him about, to gain his trust. Adam interprets this as a sign from God, but Isaac arrives and confronts him. The brothers engage in an argument, with Isaac accusing Adam of hiding behind religion. The confrontation escalates into a physical fight until Sam intervenes and pulls Isaac away.
Isaac is taken aback by seeing Sam but eventually leaves. Sam and Adam then engage in a conversation about their siblings, prompting Sam to make Adam reflect on his life. Adam returns home and brings Grace back with him. He attempts to reconcile with Rosie, but she maintains her distance from him.
Later, Rosie confronts Mrs. Phillips at the Phillips' house about the letters, accusing her and Mr. Phillips of hypocrisy for staying in contact with their disavowed son. Mrs. Phillips warns Rosie about Sam, but she declares her intention to leave the community with Grace. She later visits Sam's outhouse, and the two grow closer, eventually ending up in bed together.
As they talk later, Sam informs Rosie that he is being baptised by Mr. Phillips, which shocks her. Elsewhere, Issac watches the news where Sam is identified as an absconding criminal still on the run. At the fellowship, Adam baptizes Sam as Episode 3 concludes.
