Unchosen – Season 1 Episode 4 1

At the fellowship center, Miriam's description of Adam's soul as "pristine" leaves him uneasy, especially after he ponders Sam's predicament. A police officer arrives, inquiring if Rosie has seen Sam, an escaped prisoner. Although Rosie initially lies, she rushes to the sawmill the officer is headed to. She informs Adam of the officer's presence and begs him to hide Sam. Adam lies to the police officer but grows increasingly concerned about the extent of Sam's crimes. He confronts Rosie, but she staunchly defends Sam, insisting that he is now one of them.

Elsewhere, Isaac attempts to contact Anthony, but Hannah disconnects the home phone line. At the mill, Sam notices Adam's discomfort after the officer's departure. He approaches Adam and tries to explain himself, causing Adam to remain tense. Adam reveals that Isaac was the one who informed the police.

Meanwhile, Mr. Phillips' increasing dependence on alcohol begins to worry his wife, Miriam. Mr. Phillips takes Sam to the fellowship to provide him with new clothes and a Bible for his new life in the community. While there, Sam stealthily retrieves Isaac's phone from the confiscated items.

At the fellowship meeting, Sam undergoes his first communion. Simultaneously, an elderly parishioner, Mrs. Dawson, lies on her deathbed, and Adam and Mr. Phillips are asked to pray over her. Adam assigns Sam the task of dropping Rosie off at home while Grace decides to stay with Hannah that night. Without any responsibilities weighing her down, Rosie asks Sam to take her out. They go out together, and Rosie lets her guard down and tries something new for herself.

As they discuss Sam's future, he becomes anxious after seeing his face on the news. Rosie tries on lip gloss for the first time and feels happy, but Sam asks her to remove it. He abruptly leaves, and when Rosie follows him, he pulls her toward the car in a rush.

The scene is vividly portrayed with subtle nuances that bring the characters to life and make their interactions more relatable and engaging for the audience.

Meanwhile, Adam grapples with the task of praying over Mrs. Dawson, his doubts surfacing due to his thoughts about Sam, causing him to refuse to continue. Mr. Phillips steps in to help. Later that night, Sam pleads with Rosie to start a new life with him, but she declines, stating that she cannot leave Adam and has no control over divorce within their community. After dropping Rosie off at home, Sam drives to the sawmill where he finds Adam near a fire. He leaves Issac's phone positioned inside the car and approaches Adam. Sam tries to comfort him, but their interaction becomes intimate. Adam gives in, and the moment is recorded on the phone.

Later that night, Adam returns home and lies in bed with Rosie when Issac calls. Rosie ponders her earlier encounter with Sam, while Adam is preoccupied by what happened at the mill. Elsewhere, Sam returns to the outhouse and finds his brother Mason waiting for him. The two reunite after years apart since Sam was sent to prison.

The next morning, Sam introduces Mason to Adam and Rosie. Issac arrives and tries to warn Rosie about Sam, but Adam brushes him off and dismisses his concerns. At the same time, Mr. Phillips speaks to Miriam about Adam's lack of leadership. Miriam confronts him about his drinking and expresses her frustration with the way women are expected to endure suffering silently.

Sam worries that Issac might cause problems and asks Mason to keep an eye on him. Rosie begins to doubt Sam and decides to contact Issac, asking to meet him at a park. Mason informs Sam that Rosie has left with Grace.

At the sawmill, a drunk Mr. Phillips belittles Adam in front of a client, and Sam steps in to remove him from the situation. Meanwhile, Rosie asks Miriam to take her to the playground, where they wait for Issac. Issac is on his way there when Sam starts chasing him.

During the chase, Sam forces Issac off the road, punches Mr. Phillips, knocking him unconscious, and causes Issac's car to overturn. Issac dies in the crash. Sam places Mr. Phillips in the driver's seat and flees the scene as Episode 4 comes to an end.
