In the continuation of Episode 3 of Virgin River season 7, we find Brie confronting Mike in Charmaine's motel room. She's offended by his accusation that she's been hiding Charmaine's involvement from him. Brie clarifies that Charmaine called, sounding troubled, and Mike reveals that she's the main suspect in the Calvin murder case, and the police were trying to track her down through her phone. The two get into another heated argument, and Brie announces that, as Charmaine's attorney, she can't be talking to Mike. As she leaves, she notices the name of a restaurant on the receipt on the table.

Meanwhile, Jack and Mel pick up Everett from the hospital and drop him off at home. He's thrilled to hear that they're cautiously optimistic about adopting Marley's baby. Mel encourages him to join her at the town hall and show support for Vernon. Jack leaves to continue fixing up their house.
Hope is helping Vernon get ready for the town hall meeting. He's not confident and is worried things won't end up his way. Hope reassures him that they'll make the town see how unfair the situation is. Denny and Lizzie assure him that they'll be fine watching Koko by themselves. On her way out, Hope throws her father's ashes in the trash.
Elsewhere, Brie goes for a run to clear her head. She calls Jack and informs him that she'll be representing Charmaine once the police find her. She worries that she's let Charmaine down. Jack tells her about Marley, and she's excited to help them with the legal process of adoption. Speaking of Marley, she and Jack start spending more time together.
On the other side of town, Brady tries to talk his landlord, Lenny, into waiting for the monthly rent. Lenny refuses, and Brady promises to find the money. At the town hall, Hope invites Vernon to address the people. He starts by reminding them about his experience and the charges against him. Mel assures the people that she'll run the clinic and will refer what she can't handle to the hospital. Oliver interrupts and talks to the people about the benefits of Grace Valley expanding into town. A few people insist that Oliver is allowed to talk, and Vernon is disheartened and quietly walks away.
Mel follows him out and tries to reassure him, pretending everything is fine. She turns to Everett for help, and he brings Vernon to his workshop. They bond over beer and old music, as Everett shares how having a distraction can be helpful.
At the local flea market, Mel joins Marley and Jack, and they continue to deepen their bond. The mood turns awkward when Marley receives a call from the adoption agency. The tension escalates when she asks what led them to adoption. Jack advises Mel to open up to Marley about her past fertility struggles.
Back at the house, Denny and Lizzie try to figure out what's wrong with Koko. Hope arrives and starts venting about the town hall meeting, suggesting they hire a new temp to help with the growing responsibility.
In town, Kaia runs into Brady, who asks him about a side job at the station. She tells him about Mike's and Brie's breakup, suggesting Brady try being a friend to Brie. Later, Kaia mentions Brady's job search to Preacher, who is not pleased that she referred to Brady as "sexy" but promises to think about it.
Brie visits the restaurant where Charmaine used to work, and the owner is hesitant to share information but tells her that Charmaine seemed scared. A man follows Brie when she leaves and tries to accost her, but Mike shows up and scolds her for interfering with the investigation. After a short argument, they agree to work together.
Hope hires a new temp after he helps them figure out what's wrong with Koko. At the flea market, Mel opens up to Marley and honestly talks about her miscarriage and child loss, deepening their bond. Jack drops by the restaurant and agrees that they can hire Brady back, confiding in Preacher that he really wants the match with Marley to work out. Preacher advises him to take it easy.
Mel is relieved when she picks up Marley after her heart-to-heart talk with her. Jack is overjoyed at the news. Meanwhile, Vernon tells Hope about his wonderful experience with Everett, motivating him to keep fighting for his job.
At the end of the day, Brie stops by the restaurant for dinner and ends up talking to Brady about her breakup, Charmaine, and everything else. Mel and Jack show Marley the nursery room, and she allows them to feel her stomach as the baby kicks. The episode ends with Hope wondering what to do with her dad's ashes and Marley receiving a threatening message from an anonymous number saved as "Don't answer."
