Episode 5 of Wednesday's second season kicks off with an intriguing scene where Wednesday awakens within the confines of her dream-induced coma, only to discover Principal Weems standing in her room, introducing herself as Wednesday's new spiritual guide. To her surprise, it transpires that they are cousins.
In her capacity as the new guide, Weems cautions Wednesday to tread lightly in the aftermath of her recent misjudgments. However, Wednesday, eager to regain her lost powers, implores Weems to restore them. Regrettably, Weems informs her that such a feat is beyond her reach.
Meanwhile, at Willow Hill, Judi hosts a press conference to unveil the facility's future. She reveals to the gathered reporters that law enforcement has apprehended 43 of the 46 fugitives who escaped during the chaos. Despite these efforts, Willow Hill will remain shuttered, with patients having been relocated to another institution.
The sheriff steps up to the podium next, announcing that they are still on the hunt for the three fugitives still at large: Slurp, Fester, and Tyler. According to him, Tyler is injured and might still be lurking nearby.
After the conference concludes, the sheriff receives news of Wednesday's genuine awakening from her coma. He inquiries about her involvement in the recent events, prompting Judi to weave a tale, claiming that Wednesday had snuck in to visit her uncle and was merely in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Later, Judi contacts the assassin she previously hired, instructing him to track down patient 1938 and eliminate her. She emphasizes that this patient, from LOIS, is the only one they have yet to locate. Before Wednesday is discharged from the hospital, Judi pays her a visit, the tension between them palpable.
Judi confides in Wednesday, assuring her that all traces have been erased, rendering the LOIS lab a dead-end for the police. Wednesday, inquisitive about the enigmatic woman, observes that Judi's search remains unfruitful. As she exits, Wednesday is handed a bunch of wilted flowers by Tyler, who promptly ducks into the shadows, evading her attempts to trail him.
Back at Nevermore, Ajax lends a helping hand to Bianca in concealing her mother, sensing that Gideon's grasp is tightening. He alerts Bianca to this impending danger and opens up about her own harrowing encounters with Gideon and Morning Song. Wednesday returns to her dorm, only to find Enid mistaking her ramblings about Weems' apparition as lingering effects of her head injury.
Wednesday attempts to command Enid to pack her bags and vacate until Tyler is apprehended, but Enid takes offense, asserting her strength and capability. She insists that Wednesday is not the sole guardian of competence, a sentiment echoed by Weems' spectral presence. Offended, Enid storms away, prompting Wednesday to beg Weems for some solitude.
On the Day of the Dead, Wednesday is steadfast in her mission to thwart Tyler before he strikes again. She implores Dort to cancel the Outcast Day of Remembrance procession, but he refuses, adding insult to injury by excluding Weems from the tribute. Weems' spirit is deeply wounded by the erasure of her memory. Dort further reveals that Capri, versed in the ways of Hydes, will assist in dealing with Tyler should he materialize.
Elsewhere, Gomez endeavors to forge a bond with Pugsley by suggesting they track Slurp together. Unbeknownst to them, Judi's assassin is also on the fugitives' trail. Gomez manages to pinpoint Tyler's hiding spot in a dank sewer. Haunted by visions of his late father since slaying his master, Tyler confronts and slays the assassin. Slurp, ever the voracious consumer, feasts on the assassin's brains and, upon discovering a picture of Patient 1938, experiences an unexpected surge of emotion.
Back at school, Wednesday sought Capri's assistance in managing Tyler, unaware of the dark history Capri bore concerning Hydes. Capri, who had once been involved with a Hyde who nearly claimed her life, issued a grim warning: Tyler, having dispatched his master, was on the brink of madness—a fate shared by male Hydes who ultimately perish. Wednesday inquired about the possibility of Hydes taking on new masters, to which Capri sternly advised against even contemplating such a move with Tyler.
Predictably, Wednesday disregarded Capri's counsel. She visited her parents' abode and delved into Thornhill's journal. Morticia, sensing her daughter's turmoil, attempted to connect but was rebuffed by Wednesday. Morticia, perceiving Weems' spirit, discerned Wednesday's intent to confront Tyler and earnestly warned her to leave justice to the authorities.
Elsewhere, Enid unburdened herself to Bruno about Wednesday, and an idea sparked—to activate the Nightshade. She enlisted Thing's aid for this audacious plan.
Meanwhile, Pugsley and Gomez's all-day search for Slurp proved futile. Pugsley pleaded with Gomez to attend the event at Pilgrim World, and, relenting, Gomez agreed.
In the sewers, law enforcement discovered the assassin's corpse, sparking speculation that Tyler was colluding with Slurp. The sheriff ordered heightened security at Nevermore, determined to apprehend Tyler.
At Pilgrim World, Slurp made a sinister appearance, claiming lives with impunity. Pugsley rushed to intervene before the police arrived, urging Slurp to flee. Outside, Gomez awaited and recognized Slurp as he slipped away. Sadly, thanks to Pugsley's interference, Slurp evaded capture.
At school, Agnes filled Wednesday in on Enid's scheme to reassemble the Nightshade. Wednesday burst into the meeting, revealing her intentions to assume mastery over Tyler. Utilizing Thornhill's notes, she brewed a potion designed to overpower him. Weems tried to dissuade her, reminding her of lingering feelings for Tyler. Wednesday, denial etched on her face, remained focused on her mission.
With the police distracted by events at Pilgrim World, Tyler infiltrated Nevermore. However, Wednesday and the Nightshade were ready. Enid distracted Tyler, leading him away from the crowd, while the Nightshade confronted him. Wednesday, poised to strike, attempted to sneak up on Tyler with an injection. Alert and agile, Tyler spotted her and turned his attention to Wednesday.
Just as Tyler was about to carry out her grim deed, another Hyde unexpectedly materialized—revealing herself to be Tyler's mother, Patient 1938. By sheer coincidence, she had encountered Morticia earlier, who had revealed Tyler's whereabouts. A pact was swiftly struck between Morticia and Tyler's mother, Francoise: Francoise would rescue Tyler and depart the town, vowing not to harm Wednesday.
Morticia was incensed upon discovering Wednesday's secret plan to become Tyler's next monster. Elsewhere, Wednesday was engrossed in her book, her thoughts drifting to how the past seemed to linger incessantly. Gomez shared with Morticia that Pugsley's zombie was none other than Isaac, while she reciprocated by informing him of Francoise's survival.
Upon arriving home, Judi was startled to find Isaac, now transformed into Slurp, awaiting her. As for Tyler and Francoise, their reunion was filled with emotional intensity. Meanwhile, the episode draws to a close with Capri bearing witness to an astonishing sight: Enid transforming into a wolf, despite the moon not being full.
