Episode 12 of "Wind Breaker" picks up right after Suo's nomination of Sakura as the Grade Captain, with his friends and classmates unanimously echoing Suo's sentiment. Sakura, understandably thrown into a tizzy of mixed emotions, grapples with the fact that he lacks a clear-cut objective to strive for—a notion recently imparted to him by Umemiya.

Feeling inadequate and determined to challenge his nomination, Sakura learns that Kaji, a usually reserved figure, holds the position of Grade Captain for the second-year students of the Tamon team. However, once Kaji formally acknowledges Sakura as the first-year Grade Captain, the debate comes to a close, with the class unwaveringly throwing their weight behind Sakura. In this supportive setup, Nirei and Suo step into the roles of secondary captains to bolster Sakura.

On their maiden patrol together, Kaji and Sakura encounter an elderly lady who has lost her cherished "girl." Initiating a search, Kaji and Sakura soon discover that their quarry is not a person but a feline! Sakura catches sight of her perched on the rooftop and embarks on a tiring pursuit. After an exhilarating chase, the cat leaps into a river, prompting Kaji to dive in after her without hesitation. Their efforts culminate in the successful return of the cat to her grateful owner.

As the group indulges in treats offered by the elated lady, Sakura inquisitively probes the fiery Kaji about his journey as a Grade Captain. Does he harbor any aspirations for his leadership role? Kaji responds by revealing that, much like Sakura, he was also chosen, acknowledging that while he's not adept at various tasks, he leans on his secondary captains for support. He further elucidates, "So, to live up to their expectations, I do what I can," adding that he too lacks a concrete purpose for being a Grade Captain. This revelation strikes a chord with Sakura, who realizes, "So, it's alright not to have a specific goal?" coming to terms with the fact that his nomination was a testament to his classmates' and friends' trust in him, rather than any predefined mission he needed to fulfill.

The following day, Sakura finds himselfbleary-eyed and exhausted at Kotoha's café, having spent the entire night tossing and turning in contemplation of his newly bestowed responsibility. As they engage in conversation, Kotoha gently points out that he seldom acknowledges others by their names, hinting that perhaps this could be his first step in truly embodying the role of Grade Captain.

Returning to the school's hallowed halls, Nirei endeavors to impart a whirlwind tour of their classmates' names and visages to Sakura. Amidst this educational endeavor, all Grade Captains and Secondary Captains are unexpectedly summoned to the rooftop by Umemiya, adding an air of urgency to their surroundings.

Upon reaching the rooftop, Nirei articulates his desire to assist Sakura and Suo by deploying his unique talent – an uncanny ability to recall the names of everyone in school, despite his lack of combat prowess. Sakura, finally recognizing the sincerity beneath Nirei's words and the earnestness of Suo's presence, addresses them by their names for the very first time, marking a significant personal growth.

Just as this heartfelt moment unfolds, the Four Kings of Furin High, accompanied by their Secondaries, make a grand entrance on the rooftop, their arrival as imposing as a royal fleet gliding across the horizon, adding an element of grandeur and anticipation to the gathering.
