In Episode 5 of Your Friends & Neighbors season 2, the ladies gather in the sauna, where some of them have indulged in mushrooms. Their conversation turns to hook-ups, including the steamy encounter between Sam and Ashe at Gretchen's. However, the arrival of Mel quickly changes the mood, causing tension between her and Sam that ultimately prompts her to leave. Despite this, Mel manages to obtain a guy's number upon returning home, this time from one of the builders next door, Miguel. She quickly begins to fantasize about him.

Meanwhile, Coop's venture into Excelsior investment seems to be going well, with Liv playing a pivotal role in drafting much of the paperwork. However, one of the investors, Cricket Birch, requests a meeting. That night, Coop discusses a strategy with Jack to win over Cricket and secure her investment. Cricket is the majority investor in Excelsior, and they need to persuade her to invest in Coop's business.
At home, Tori begins to question her life choices and speaks to Sam about what she's doing. Their conversation is cut short when Sam's alarm goes off, reminding her of her teaching responsibilities.
Elsewhere, Barney visits Nick's gym, only to find Ashe's go-to lawyer, Luc DeMille, there as well. He's overseeing a review of Nick's gyms as Ashe is considering investing in his franchise. With Ashe committing $30 million to Nick's franchise and planning to expand nationally, Barney's plan to use the gyms for money laundering is thwarted. Nick quickly reminds Barney that he works for him and is eager to capitalize on this opportunity.
Barney has no choice but to comply, while Coop heads out to meet Cricket on her yacht. However, he's slightly unnerved when Barney informs him of Ashe's new investment.
Despite this, Coop eventually meets with Cricket and does his best to win her over when they discuss business. Cricket quickly clarifies that she doesn't want any hot money and isn't looking for a partner either.
Coop seems to be doing quite well and eventually agrees to stay for the night's party. However, this isn't good news for Elena, who really needs to do another hit. Unfortunately, Chivo has been arrested and his bail is set at a staggering 50k. She tries to reach out to Coop, but he hangs up on her. Barney also hangs up on her. Elena has no choice but to turn to Felix for help. She begs him to bail Chivo out and promises to pay him back. This puts her in a difficult position, as she'll definitely need to pay this debt or face severe consequences. Unfortunately, Chivo betrays Elena and steals her stuff.
Back on the boat, Cricket tries to talk to Coop about his mood. She can tell he's sad and they discuss an incident from the past when they almost ended up in bed together. This time is different, though, and they do end up sleeping together.
In the morning, things take a turn for the awkward when Jack has a medical problem. He's taken too many of his "boner pills" and is having a panic attack. Coop rushes off to find the medic to help.
On the plane ride back, Jack brings up how he feels humiliated for being pushed aside. He knows he hasn't been the main guy for a while and it's a bitter pill to swallow.
That night, during Nick's big party celebrating Ashe's investment, Elena bails (when she finds out about Chivo's betrayal) while Mel shows up to congratulate him. Barney is busy stress-eating and when he speaks to Ashe, the color drains from his face. He learns, with horror, that his time window is only a couple of weeks. DeMille is a details guy and he's going to be looking over the books soon and auditing the whole place.
Down in the basement, Mel winds up speaking to Sam, telling her that "if she cared, she wouldn't have f*cked her husband." Mel calls Sam a narcissistic sociopath before falling over and hitting her back hard.
Mel eventually opens up about her menopause and how everyone hates her. Sam apologizes for what happened and points out that she's a different person now.
As the episode closes out, we learn that the Excelsior investment has gone through. However, Coop's world comes crashing down when he learns his dad has died.
